Anyone know if there are any aftermarket exhaust tips only that are available? Just looking for tips, not a $2000.00 system (for now). Thanks!

I'm guessing you could contact AWE or Remus and purchase some tips directly from them? It might require some coaxing.

Do what Benji00 did and paint the tips at least as a stop gap.

the rear valance can easily be popped off and the OE tips can be PlastiDip'd. IIRC removing these tips and re-attaching doesn't work so well, try to rather spray while on the car.

Not sure the look you're going for but I had them painted matte black.

Looks great. DIY or professionally done. Did you remove the tips?

If someone came up with larger aftermarket tips that could fit over the oem pipes, it would sell pretty well. The biggest challenge is the oval shape of the pipe that the stock tips mount on. I know I'd be in for some new larger tips...

IMO a 4 cylinder shouldn't have 4 pipes. Keep them the same size, the bigger tips like the AWE just look silly for the S3's capacity. RS3 dual tips would look sweet.

I would like a little less gap between the top of the tips and the cutouts. Maybe slightly larger round tips would fit the bill.

    Agreed!

Mine were done professionally - I was getting a DP installed at the time so they just pulled the entire exhaust.

Agreed, and I love the Remus carbon dual tips. So far, those are the only tips I am a fan of. Not a fan of the big AWE muscle car tips.

A lot of cars shouldn't have Quad Exhaust, but they still look better. A single 8" exhaust pipe directly off the headers would work best, but looks ugly as sin.. so its not done. I think the large tips look great. Small tips.. not so much.

Exhaust tips would be a GREAT idea instead of dishing out $$ for a full exhaust since you GET NEXT TO ZERO HP gains with it. $1,500+ for 2-5 HP... so your only paying for a different sound.

You can pick what ever exhaust tips you want. Just ensure you match the inlets with the stock pipe size coming out of the muffler.. find a welder and weld the new ones on after the old ones are cut off. Done. I've done it on several cars until I really needed a full cat back. Heck you can find a custom muffler shop that will add mufflers, pipes, and anything you want off the cats. Skillz with a welder can do much. But your not gonna get the quality as you would get with the other cat backs like AWE, B&B,...

Prolly need some custom work to make them fit. The tailpipes go oval towards the ends to accommodate the oem oval-ish tips.

4 tips are just the S car's signature, no matter how many cylinders, just like two oval ones are the RS car's signature.

Anyone know the measurements for the outlet and inlet for the stock s3 tips?

This interests me too. I am not paying 2000 for a 4 cyl catback for basically zero gains. A set of replacement exhaust tips for the stock ones would be nice though. They are too small for quad tips and just look wimpy.

I wouldn't say zero gains. I have to believe an aftermarket exhaust is 10 - 15lbs lighter than the OEM and of course better sounding. I had poked some people who I saw had gone to an aftermarket exhaust system about any weight savings, but no one replied they weighed it vs the OEM. So anyone that is reading this and has done that, please reply.

Personally I'm after weight reduction as much as outright HP/TQ.

AWE DP is not significantly lighter than the OEM one.
Have heard the AWE full exhaust is also not much lighter than oem if you delete the oem resonator.

Just talked to a rep from Remus. They do sell the tips separately. Gonna try and go for the carbon fiber tips. Oh so pretty!

I've been thinking about changing the tips on the stock exhaust as well. While I'd love to buy a new catback I can't justify the cost just to save a few pounds. I could spend just slightly more money than the catback would cost and do a BBK upgrade which would save more weight (and where it matters most) as well as increase performance drastically. Some of these ECS tips look like good contenders and same for the Remus ones.

Going to have to get them custom fit to make it work. Still cheaper than the alternative.

Was the "custom fit" comment in regards to the ECS tips? If so, is that because the pipe OD isn't 2.5 inches? Apparently the ECS tips are designed to fit a 2.5 inch OD pipe.

No the tailpipe is oval towards the end. So unless you find aftermarket tips that are oval also, it won't fit over the oem tailpipes.

You'd have to cut the tailpipe where the oval begins and weld on the new tips or a new section of tailpipe that is round to fit the tips over.

Yeah, custom work is expected and a good muffler shop should be able to figure something out. Best thing to do is bring the new tips to the shop to find out. If it's not possible then make sure the tips are refundable! Lol.

Well that's a real bummer. ECS should probably be a bit more clear that these actually will NOT fit our cars without modification. I don't really want to chop up my exhaust just for a "different look". I think I would be more likely to just get the current tips powder coated/ceramic coated/painted.

ECS tuning is really starting to suck. It seems the bigger they get the less they care about customers. Still waiting on a reply from my email to them.

and i used to be a loyal customer since like 2003
