    ooA5oo 2010 A5 Ice Silver Build Thread

Hello! My name is Chris. As of a few weeks ago I became an Audi owner for the first time. I've been browsing this and other forums the past 2 months brushing up on my knowledge. I previously owned a 2003 Nissan 350Z for 5 years and loved it. But it was time to move on.

I purchased a 1-owner, CPO 2010 A5 3.2 with the Sport Package, Dark Walnut inlays and B&O sound system with 28,500 miles. I also picked up a slightly used S5 winter tire/wheel set from the dealership as well to have for the winter. The A5 was bought, lived and sold right here in Syracuse. I was pretty happy to see how well taken care of it was. It will mainly be my detailing project to keep up on since that's practically my hobby. I've always loved the Audi design language but they have always been out of my price range for new. I'm beyond impressed with the quality and craftsmanship, especially it being the first time I've driven let alone sat in a German make. I've loved my Infinitis/Nissans for sure, but this takes the cake!

I have some mods in mind for the future. Mostly aesthetic mods.

    - complete professional detailing at Arete Auto Salon
    - debadge A5 and 3.2 quattro
    - gloss black RS5 grill
    - HOEN xenon match fog lights
    - 3M 1080 gloss black vinyl on the interior to mimic RS5 piano black interior trim
    - 3M 1080 gloss black vinyl on the roof and window trim
    - gloss black fog light trim and rear valance (undecided on either painting or plasti dip)
    - maybe some gloss black accents in the engine bay
    - a couple of VAGCOM mods (windows down with fob, maybe headlight amber delete)
    - post facelift AT shift knob
    - LED interior update
    - LED reverse lights
    - AWE Tuning Touring exhaust with black diamond dual tips
    - already purchased a console organizer and trunk net for the side compartment

Here are a couple of pics. More will follow in time. Any feedback is appreciated. I hope to learn a lot from you guys.

Congrats on the purchase, nice car and welcome to the forums.
No plans to lower the car at all? Gotta get rid of all that fender gap And some black or gunmetal rims would go nicely with the rest of your planned mods.

    Congrats. Good looking machine.

Good small touch ups. You will eventually get in to the big changes just merely by being on this forum.

Great car, one of the best colors in my opinion. Love how the 3.2 comes with the dual pipes too. I blacked out my chrome with vinyl too and it's my favorite thing I've done, really changes the look!

I have the same year/make/model/paint... but in the two-liter turbo... my build thread is a bit older, I've since upgraded suspension/wheels.

Thanks for the welcoming guys! I know I know about wheel gap but I don't plan on lowering this at all. I thought about spacers but you all know how one thing leads to another. I had spacers and a slight drop on my Z. Loved it for sure but I didn't drive that in the winter like I'll be driving the A5 in the winter. The biggest mod will be the exhaust. Maybe a CAI but nothing else really. Like I said I'm bigger into detailing then modding a car for the track. The Z was fun and I learned so much at the same time. I love the grand touring feel of the A5 though. A lot more room, class and sportiness all in one.

Here are the OEM 19" wheels with summer tires. Audi does an excellent job on designing their wheels.

Great looking machine! Love the Ice 5's. A really nice budget mod would be the side blades or "stone guards". I enjoy that glossy 3.2 grille, and Y-spokes. For the other black-out bits, look at Wurth satin black trim paint. Happy to assist with the AWE pipes when the time comes! Welcome!

PS: Check my 3.2 A5 build sometime.

Thanks Mops! I have seen those stone guards and it's crossed my mind to get them possibly. We'll see. I'll definitely let you know when I'm ready for the AWE exhaust. Your A5 was the perfect example of how less is more, and that's my goal. I have already been studying your build.

A slight drop won't hurt the winter drive-ability, but to each his own. The exhaust will sound great. These engines have so much potential (as far as a good exhaust note goes) but are just too suppressed from the factory. The AWE really brings out the character. I was going to get a AWE touring for my 3.2, but I think I'm just gonna wait and upgrade to a 4.2 instead.

wel214 I have noticed how suppressed they are, especially the 4.2. I noticed how open the V8 becomes when I heard the Armytrix exhaust videos. Music to my ears!

They were purchased from separate ebay vendors. Just installed both today and everything fit perfect. On to other projects now.

RS5 grille and interior/exterior LEDs from USP Motorsports. Can't wait to install it all. I also picked up a front set of Audi a5 all weather mats and Audi tire totes for when I hang my summer set on the garage wall.

Detailing the summer set in my spare time. Haven't had time yet to install my interior LEDs and RS5 grill but I will once Spring comes.

Also made my own t-shirt. I have a couple more ideas to produce still. Check it out at teepublic.com.

Finally warmed up enough for me to install my RS5 grille. Did most of my LED lights and fog lights too. I'll get a pic of those another time.

Thanks. It's a cover that came with the grille. Didn't think twice about it. Maybe I'll wrap it gloss black sometime. The matte black fog light grilles bother me more. They'll be gloss soon.

Summers are on! Nice weather is finally here. Now to wrap my roof and window trim gloss black. My fog light covers and rear valance will get gloss black as well.

That's one sweet silver 5! The wrapped window trim really brings the car together. Question, did you have to buy 2 sets of reverse LED's from USP?

Yes, you need 2 sets. Each side takes 2. Very much worth it IMO.

More gloss black. Couple more accents to come and the interior will be done.

Amber delete/tint. I believe a forum member does these. Not sure who but kudos to him. I know it's not ecodes but it looks so much better now with all the black accents I'm currently adding. Next is the Laminx Tint for the tail lights.

    More gloss black to come.

Looks great, really like the gloss back accents inside!

Question - Was the center console organizer marketed for the Audi Q5? Couldn't find any on eBay that were for the A5. How's the fitment?
