    integrated engineering intake

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi all I have a b7 2.0, so I recently installed my btk from jhm, awesome upgrade. jake from jhm was really helpful and the install was great. Anyways I wanted to see if anyone has installed the integrated engineering intake. Other than the bad ass look has anyone had any issues, Jake said that people have not really seen any improvements from the intake. just wanted to see if it is worth dropping $1000 on one. I know it deletes the intake flaps, so it would need to be programmed. thanks in advance.

If your big turbo you would but if your stock turbo...probably not, may even hurt performance.

Would not recommend it until IE comes out with a tune, and like demonkmk2 said you need a K04 or bigger turbo.

You'll see an improvement then, especially your mid range.
But if you tweek the tune you will see even more.

If you do though get cams also, if you can swing it.

Do you have anything to back this up? I seem to remember there being a reason that no one has swapped cams.

    Not hating, just curious.

Did you ever get your tune sorted out after putting in the intake?

Nope, I've been put on the back burner because of the S3 and Mk7 Golf R.

I would like to see what JHM could do tuning wise. Maybe that would get UM going.

Eventually, don't know how soon we could get to it.

If you you look I said "if" he gets the tune tweeked ( for intake and cams)

As far as cams alone I think the only way that would work is with a tune. If not I would imagine

No I did not. This was on a 1.8t however. It definitely improved the curve and midrange.

Because there are very few options for aftermarket cams, and seemingly even less options for people willing to tune for them.

intake manifold is more headache than its worth. don't understand why people buy it, but i suppose there are people who just have to have the newest thing even when it has no proof of performance, and they don't know what is all involved to get it to run properly.

and with limited availability of GOOD custom tuning for our platform, its almost the best way to make your car slower

The problem is when they did the design and tuning in the intake they did it on a motor running a standalone ecu a lot easier to tweak everything

Other than Motec ($$$) what direct injection standalones are available?

Get in touch with John@ dotuning AKA Conglameratgti AKA Jack Sparrows , he has installed an HEP manifold , removed tuned the ecu for the flapper delete, and he has successfully tuned for an intake manifold. Maybe he will share some information.

If you are using a standalone you can use damn near anything on the market the is DI able.

I know people have tuned for then it just takes awhile.

UM does it all the time on the vw's.
I would honestly grab a hep manifold over ie's. It looks pretty but seems to net little returns.

Right but afaik there are only two manufacters that make standalones for D.I.

http://nefariousmotorsports.com/foru...cseen#msg46755 , here is a thread about tuning for flapper delete.
