I am up in the air about installing my h&r springs before winter. Do any of you have issues being lowered somewhat in the winter? I will be doing coilovers in the summer but as of right now im driving a 4x4

On paved roads that were unplowed, the car drove fine with my snow tires. I mean the belly pan touched the snow, but it was fine.

What's your concern exactly? You should be concerned with driving into parking spots that aren't shoveled very well in case the snow is hard, but I would recommend care be taken with an un-lowered car too.

I'm on Eibach springs.....no issues last winter......I'd be more concerned with potholes and tire/wheel damage

Didn't the Boston area get slammed last year with snow? I'm in CT and we didn't get nearly as much snow as you did, but I still ripped my passenger side lower covers. I'm on h&r springs with stock 18's.

I got threw last winter no issues...none at all. Good snow tires and don't be dumb. Basically, as long as its not ice under the snow, you'll have plenty of traction. I'm actually a little North of Boston and we got even more snow than the city.

I ripped my belly pan and both of the side things though...small price to pay for so many snownuts.

this was like three days after it had last snowed. plows couldn't keep up and there was no where left to put it.

Boston proper? I would be more concerned about post-milling manhole covers ripping off the exhaust on a lowered car, or the 10' deep potholes.

I drove an Explorer for the last 10 years, this is my first winter with the quattro. I took the belly pans off because I lost half the screws and it kept popping off and dragging. Should I toss it back on for the winter with some new hardware or will it not make much of a difference?

I would put it on. I like that mine provides a little cushion for when I hit things. I wasn't lowered last year and I shredded some of the plastic covers. I'm thinking of putting my stock grill back on for the winter.

Definitely put them back on. If its not durable enough for you, consider a Thor skid plate. You need the belly pan to protect the engine from road debris and salt/grime from wet roads. The pan is your friend.

Good points, I'll just have to order some replacement screws to get it back on there nice and snug.

Blbroo actually posted an ebay link to some in my build thread back when I was complaining about my pan dragging all over the place. These things are like $8 each from every other retailer I've seen, but $13 for a pack of 10 from based Latvia.

I'm ordering a set as we speak, I can certainly toss some your way if I have some left over (might not, seriously I think I lost a screw every time I took that damn pan off), but they're cheap enough that it might not hurt just grabbing a set yourself so you'll have some spares.

Well I don't need 10 so in figured if you didn't need em all I could snag some, but if you keep losing them I may as well grab some too

Let us know if you run into any issues..I was always running into ice chunks in the road. Sometimes I was forced to go over them and heard it scrape all the way out the back. I don't see how a nice carbon fiber front lip would survive here

It really depends on how much you use/rely on your car. I've lowered every one of my cars and all have driven fine (especially the Audi's!) through the winters in Boston, but I always give the plows some time to hit the streets first. In the city, the main roads and highways get plowed pretty quickly, but the side streets can get a bit tricky. Never been stuck, and I don't own snow tires, but on real bad days I have the option of taking the T to work (when it's running...)

I have a B5 A4 1.8t sport that is running lowered Springs, worked GREAT in the snow. I had brand new Blizzaks on it, the 24" of snow on the highways were no match... Driver skills and tires make all the difference (and quattro of course)
