Suspect bolts are too short. Measured .3"; consensus is that they should be about .5" (stock bolts extend that much). It's an aluminum head so soft threads. I am not sure previous owner attempted to install a catch can and I've done my share of mechanical work to know not to over-tighten bolts. But these started spinning freely without much (or any) torque :\

Thanks, sounds like a likely scenario

Please don't cross post and mess up this information thread. The standard bolts in our kits are the same ones we've used for the last few years and never had a problem, if you have a question email with your original invoice number or online order number. Please don't cross post and mess up this information thread.

Any chance you can post up a pic of the actual HFC as opposed to just the TP??

In case anyone else is interested, I emailed CTS and got multiple very prompt responses to my above question and several more. Here is the pic I requested for others that may have the same question, (this pic is not listed on their site or anywhere else that I could find) as the HFC is a drop-down addition to the TP as opposed to being listed as it's own item:

Most likely the low pressure fuel pump and fuel injectors will have to be upgraded.

    Got the k04 installed yesterday.

I definitely feel the power increase but it's weird that the APR 93 oct tune has 15 less wtq than stage 2, but 100 oct tune has +45 wtq from stage 2

CTS B8 A4 TFSI Crank Pulley Kit

The CTS Turbo crank pulley is lightened to reduce parasitic drag on the engine. This results in faster revving and more horsepower.

Included in the kit is the lightened crank pulley, replacement OEM bolt and a shorter belt.

The pulley is made from T6 6061 aircraft grade aluminum and hard anodized to reduce wear. Gains of 5-7 horsepower can be expected.

NOTE: VW TOOL T10355 IS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATIO

You will probably have to call or email their CS. CTS doesn't seem to visit here or respond very often. Usually they just post their sales products and that's it. I'm interested in this also.

To our knowledge we have never had a problem like this with our crank pulley kits. According to the email you sent to us earlier you do not have a CTS Crank pulley installed on your car, we suggest contacting the manufacturer of your pulley to see if they have a solution for you. If they do not we would be happy to help you get into a CTS crank pulley kit.

    Thanks BaysideS4

Hi WAF, unfortunately we don't have any experience with our crank pulley kits rubbing on the lower timing chain cover seal. You'll have to contact another manufacturer to see why theirs has done that to BaysideS4.

Will the k04 turbo work with the OEM exhaust? Or better yet, can it be used with my APR turbo back exhaust without having using your TP/HFC solution?

No, you have to use theirs! It has a slight bend to it and nothing else after market will work. You've seen many pics and comments on this, why keep asking? (Not being a dick)

When I look at the pictures of the turbo itself, I cannot see a difference of the hotside. The only thing that may prevent me from going this route would be the connection to my APR down pipe. The connection to the HFC so a slip not a three bolt connection like OEM. I maybe able to hack the flange off, cut some stress marks and fit it to make it work, but I am not sure of the lengths. Due to the fact I would be ordering while I am deployed, I cannot make any measurements. I truely think this setup is superior to the APR turbo because the FMIC connection does not bottleneck to 1.75"

I would prefer not to buy the same part twice like I am doing with the damn ecode crank pulley due to the lack of R&D on eurocode's behalf....

Yeah looking at the turbo you can't really tell but you can see in pics that it pokes out more so CTS had to make a HFC/TP with a bend in it to account for it. If you're on the fence about it I would go for it man. CTS K04 and then grab the APR flash with it, you'll save a little. I'm going for it within the year, hopefully.

Now for this connecting to your APR downpipe, that will be a tough one. Maybe CTS can make their HFC and leave it a little longer on the end with no flange so you can make it work with your setup. A special order I guess you could call it.

I've been messaging them over the last couple weeks. Expected timeline late summer, will be able to use factory location downpipe and FMIC. So, could be big savings for those of us who have already put in a HFC and FMIC. It's expected to work with Garrett Turbos.

Any idea who they are working with to tune it?

We're still working on the hardware at this point. The Compressor housings are complete and ready to go, the hot side is in casting along, and our wastegates are in the works. This project will be released later this year after our MQB (VW MK7/8V Audi kit - pics below)

Not B8 Related, but this is what we are wrapping up before the BOSS (Bolt On Speed Solution for B7 & B8 platform), as you can see it's pretty OEM+ looking when installed, expect the same for the B8 BOSS kits.

I'm also watching this. They posted the following on their FB page on 11/23/16...

Gary Parga R - Hello I have a Audi A5 2.0 2010, I want a bigger turbo for my car comes out and if they send guadalajara mex
CTS Turbo - Then you may want something like this, we're working on one for the B8's too

Now I recognize that as an EA113 2.0T FSI engine (Mk5 GTI, Mk6 R), but hardware for our EA888.2 engines is very similar. Makes me wonder if a K04 tune could be utilized until a tune calibrated specifically for the turbo comes out.

These CTS BOSS kits are utilizing a Garret GTX2867R or GTX3071R turbo installed into a CTS proprietary exhaust housing. I'm pretty stoked for this.
