it's possible but even if you did the headlights are still not US DOT certified and wouldn't pass inspection.

If the diffuser shield in these lights is similar to most of the ones Ive opened up in the past, the only way to really change the euro the beam pattern cuttoff is to open up the lights, cut a new shield (out of metal sheeting or maybe a piece of high temp silicone) with a flatter angle and swap it in (or just place it over the existing one).
The existing one can be used as a template so you can get the size and mounting spots correct - assuming that its just screwed on and comes out easily

My moms car failed this year because her passenger headlight was out of alignment and pointing pretty much straight up (MA inspection if that makes a difference)

I was super excited about these headlights until seeing the European cutoff. This ruins it.

Can the projector be removed from the rear? Or does the plastic lens need to be removed?

I don't really mind the cut off. it lights up the right side of the road more, not oncoming traffic. Left side the cut off is almost identical to USA spec.

In NJ, they don't even turn on the headlights during the inspection. They just plug the scanner in the obd port, and if it passes, they slap on the sticker. I had both parking light bulbs out on my Porsche, and it still passed. Lol

Realistically, I dont think running the euro beam cutoff is even that big of a deal. I ran euro code lights on my old Corrado for awhile, and also on an E36 for a couple years and it was actually kind of nice to be able to read signs on the side of the road, and see things on the shoulder/sidewalk.
Wouldnt affect oncoming traffic at all. Might annoy people in the slow lane if you're in the far left lane on the freeway, but hey, they can adjust their rear view mirror if they want to drive like a granny.
I dont recall ever having a tech check my lights during a smog check here in CA. I had a guy confirm a CARB exempt sticker on a cold air intake one time, but never had anyone question or even take a second glance at any lights. And I ran some pretty suspect lighting mods back in the day.

I say just get the height aimed how you want them, and roll with it.

I think these are the ones I read mixed reviews on. Some people claiming some of the leds prematuring burn out or something like that. Id rather get a Fly300kts retrofit. If it was still available. At least I know he will stand behind his products. But the Dectane aint bad for the price especially with the current exchange rate

Only possible problem I can see is being behind a cop at night and him or her noticing your light being off then pulling you over. However I would say the chances are slim. Gosh wish these were DOT certified and would be good for bixenons (HIDs).

I would have argued that statement a few years ago, but the B7 avant is definitely sexy. I can't say it holds true for all manufacturers/models.
