    A5 at the drag strip

Went to the drag strip for the very first time and popped my drag racing cherry. Did 3 runs at Edgewater Raceway in Cincinnati. DA = ~2100 (according to Dragtimes). Only performance mod is an APR Stage 1 tune running e85 fuel. Tickets below and a video of my 3rd run (13.392 @ 100.68mph). Cool part was in my second run out-doing a newer model Shelby Cobra with mods pushing over 700hp in the hole shot (had him still on the 60' time, 1.799 vs 1.908sec) but he killed me in the end as he ran 11.436 @ 127.8mph.

I think my second run was a victim of heat sink. Only let the car sit for ~30min before running again.... 60' was faster but just died on the top end.

Mod bug is addicting and now my next upgrade is going to be a stage 2 with HFC.

Nice job. Modding can be fun, costly and addictive.

Huh. My stage 2 A5 ran that exact same time and speed. On 93ish octane.

is the "huh" surprised the Stage1 with e85 wasn't faster or surprised it was this fast with only Stage 1? I'm going to do the HFC and Stage 2 next.

I'd have thought Stage 1 on E85 would be faster than Stage 2 on 93. I did have cooler ambient temperature though, so that could be the reason.

Are you running a larger intercooler as well?

Nope. Stock. Not really necessary to have a bigger intercooler in Alaska. All three of my runs were done within about 30 minutes of passing tech inspection. Each run was faster than the one before so heat soak was clearly not an issue. The first two runs were literally back to back as the track had just opened and no one else was ready. I waited about 10 minutes after the second run before I did my last pass.

Edit: Just checked my time slips: first pass at 18:04 last pass at 18:22. Three runs in under 20 minutes. Each faster than the last. I would have kept going but there was a rain delay and I wasn't sure how long it would last so I left.

Just installed a Eurocode HFC last night and flashed to APR Stg 2 today. Anxious to go back out and run again when the temps get a bit cooler to see what it will do now.

Thats awesome. I doubt I'll see that big of jump given the HP/TQ increases are pretty modest Stg1-->2 when running e85. The Stage 1 tune was amazing though. Hoping I can just climb below the 13.0 mark. we'll see.

your gen 3 tfsi with apr stg 2 should get down there, if you can find a way to break 13s, i would be very impressed considering the weight.

Very nice runs. What rpm were you launching at. The best I have been able to do is 8.65 at 80 mph in 1/8 mile with e85 and Apr stage 2.i launch around 3000 rpm.
