j_sims Allroad build thread

I finally caved in and bought a 2014 Allroad Premium Plus with everything that I was looking for. I have been lurking here, reading, asking questions and have pretty much decided on exactly what I want when complete.
Step 1 was to figure out who was going to help me with this project, as I am less than blessed when it comes to working on cars. I looked all over So Cal and there are some great shops here, but ultimately I settled in at Boden AutoHaus in Costa Mesa. Josh is a great guy to work with and his shop is top notch. Most of all he is very patient and willing to work with you to get you from point A to Point B.(way too many questions on this end) My first visit to Boden was in January and we are finally moving forward.

Next to get some shoes and and attitude/altitude adjustment. Rotiform, Vossen, AG, HRE, ADV1 and the list goes on, so many great companies out there when it comes to quality wheels. I had to set a budget and draw a line, so after multiple digital renderings I chose a set of Vorsteiner VFF103 20 x 10 wheels that are incredibly light and they have a very cool Carbon Graphite color that will work well with the color of the Allroad flares. There will be wrapped in Toyo 275/30/20 T

Finished talking things through with Josh at Boden and finally decided on the full AccuAir treatment with E-level and Bilstein struts/dampers to ensure a smooth controlled ride on all surfaces

Then finally DROP OFF DAY

then I get an Instagram tag, only to find it is game time

Since then we have added exhaust, I picked up an RS type roof spoiler, and decided on some smaller personalization details.

I should have Ver 2.0 back Tuesday night if all goes well.

Which rear spoiler did you go with? I've been considering this mod myself. I've run out of mods to do, at least until K04 tunes become available...

Looks to be the Ebay RS4 knock off. I picked it up here in the classified! Dropped it by the shop today and yeah, I think I am going to go ahead and roll with it. Not sure if it will make it on this evolution, but version 2.5 for sure!!

I feel so poor watching everyone getting the most expensive setups out there and here im sitting with my minor modded b8 AR, brb working overtime.

However awesome looking AR, get a colormatched, lowprofiled box in there!

Love the vinyl. Did you wrap the grey trim over bumpers and wheel arches as well? Hard to tell from photos. Is it color matched if not? Been thinking of something like this for awhile...

Thank you for all of the kind words, I am super happy with the way things are turning out, I have been driving un-modded cars for the last 25 years and this one was long overdue. Next up, RS4 roof spoiler, new ft grill(plate delete) and maybe some E-Codes (I just need to sell a kidney or something for those damn lights)LOL

The color is very close, I am going to see if there are better options as time goes on.. The removal process of the fender flares is a bit tricky from what I understand, when my buddy Duan (FooFighter)'s car was wrapped in purple, the biggest headache were the flares and roof rack. The guys at Boden actually suggested against it

Did they suggest against it due to removal process or due to the wrap not sticking onto the flares? Because I wanted to wrap mine in white to match the car color but they told me that they couldn't guarantee that it would stick good enough...

Might just go with the lower body line as well.

We have a photoshoot scheduled for this evening, so I will get more pics up soon, until then here a screenshot from Instagram

We did not wrap the flares and cladding, it is just really hydrated with a fresh detail.

The MagnaFlow adds depth and a throatiness without drastically increasing the overall volume unless you really on it. This is their "touring line" and I think a perfect fit, as i was not looking for a "loud" exhaust. not to mention the right price. The quality is amazing and the fitment is spot on. Bottom line it is enough to know that your have something going on without being obnoxious.

The yellow are Bilstein struts and dampers with AccuAir bags. Thanks for the compliment, I am pretty stoked on the way it is coming along.

Can you give me a part number or link to the magnaflow? just mufflers? Cat-back? Just mufflers and resonator delete?

Might just go with the lower body line as well.

Combo of possible damage during removal, and not being able to guarantee adhesion. I had thought of the all white scheme too, but I am stoked on the way this came out and would not want to change it.
