Yep, I agree. I may even try and swap the red lenses on to these ones, they have a nice light pattern. Just are ricey looking. If I were able to crack them open and paint them like my headlights I think it could look very good

I think so. The brand is Spyder but they look the same, I just put some lamin-x gunsmoke film on them in hopes of making them suck less

I thought of doing that too, it's just $50 per set of lamin-x. Maybe I'll wait for you to do it first

Yea I already got burned on a set of lamin-x. I bought a used set of LED tail lights and put on some smoked Lamin-x on them only to find out when I installed them that they don't work lol.

Visited my long lost friend today. Buttoned the rear back up, got rid of my ugly tail lights.

Also the motor is being prepped

    Awesome, good to hear!

One of the OG B5 guys is doing it, street tune. He's good friends with Agron, his names Steve. Has a B7 RS4 now. He also had a 2.7T swapped B7 as well

Is he going to do all the ECU recoding as well? Keep in mind there will be some things to iron out.

Yeah Agron has done this swap plenty of times, and Steve-o knows what he's doing. I got my K04's with a ECU and injectors, so it's apparently "K04 Tuned" already. I believe Steve-o tuned Agron's car, which I drove... and damn. That thing could boogie. Felt sooooo smooth too

The fueling/tuning is the easy part. The way the B5 ECU and the B7 communicate can be problematic. A lot of communication in B7's is done through can-bus. The B5 ECU doesn't do this so there there will be signals that need to be coded/accounted for. In addition to that the wiring is not entirely the same from the ECU to the body and cluster. Fun stuff.

The wiring should already be sorted I was told, so that's not a concern. I know I'll be losing ABS and Traction Control but whatever. He said Steve-O is able to handle all of that, so we will see

I was only concerned about the ABS but I'm never going to drive the car in the snow again so I doubt I'll find myself locking them. Cruise control kinda sucks to lose but whatever

Got accepted into top 100 at StanceWars, super stoked. Now, just need my car to be done. The show is on Saturday, Sept 16. I was told the car will be done Wednesday, Sept 13. We will see, right?

Motor is looking more whole. I was told it goes in at 1pm today. The car can't be done until some of the other sensors come in, as well as my replacement front axles

A lot of degreasing and a little bit of paint goes a long way! The motor only had 88k on it prior to this rebuild

    Hello Joe,

I got here following your link on A3 8P Picture Thread - and had to go through all the 14 pages Whoa, what a huge job you're doing on his A4, my hat off !!!

I wish you the best of luck with this build but if you have something to say about your A3 - feel free to start a thread there

    Hey there!

Thanks for the support and thanks for reading! The end is hopefully near for this 2.7t swap. The car has been down since February 24 definitely sucks.

I did plan on starting a thread over in the A3 section, but that build is going to be very basic and very very slow progress wise. I'm thinking of making it OEM+ this time around, opposed to going over and above. I need to start saving money and buy a house soon! But... race cars are life!

I definitely love the 3.2, such a fun platform!
