    Clunking type noise

So I've been doing some research on here about a noise I've been hearing. When you turn close to full lock, there's a thump or clunk type noise, from the suspension. After some searching it looks like a possibility is some of the bolts needing to be tightened, especially since it probably has after market suspension, (I believe it has Eibach springs, haven't been under it to confirm yet though.) My question is, what bolts should I be looking at specifically, and where are they? Also, what should the ones I need to check be torqued to?

Otherwise, what else could I check while I'm under there? Play in the wheels to check wheel bearing and bushing and control arms? Anything else that could be the culprit?

    It's a 05.5 a4 btw

Have you replaced control arms? I had the same issue. I replaced control arms and it solved the problem for me. A bushing on my upper control arm was warn pretty bad making the clunking noise.

Haven't had the car very long so I haven't replaced anything yet. The previous owner didn't mentioned them being replaced, but I can take a look at the state of them when I'm under there.

I had this clunk and replaced the upper control arm bushings - no more clunk!

Yea I was just going through the box of extra parts and fluids the previous owner gave me and noticed I had a bag of 4 new control arm bushings. So I'm gonna assume they probably need to go. Is there a good write up on it? The only DIY I easily came across was for replacing the arms altogether, not just the bushings. Do I need anything special for it, like a press?

You will need a press to install new bushings into the control arms. The ball joints in the arms however, cannot be replaced. You should really just replace the arms. FCP Euro has super cheap kits that works great. I'm running lower control arms and front sway bar links from them. I'm coming up on 15k miles I think with them with no issues whatsoever.

I'll probably do that kit somewhere down the road, depending on how the ball joints look. But atm funds dictate that I gotta fix it with the parts I already have for free rather than spend any money.
