Bent Rims: Getting some VMR 710's.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    hello everyone,

This winter has been hell up here in Philly and i bent 3 of my rims on all the monster potholes.

I'm thinking of getting the VMR 710's in Gunmetal on my Black s4.

Question, should I go with ET 35 or 45?

    Thanks alL!

    45. You can always push them out with spacers if need be.

Can't go wrong with V710's. They look great and I hit those same massive potholes, but in NYC. No problems at all with them getting bent or anything so far.
I do run the tire pressure at 41 though so that could have helped.

I ran the 710's on my b5 s4 and loved them. I would definitely go for the 9.5" width so that the wheels are more concave regardless of the ET you get. I'm semi new to the b8 so I'm not as savvy when it comes to wheel fitment on the b8's yet. However I'd still recommend getting the ET 45's and then if you wanna push them out you can pick up some spacers.

    Thanks! 19x9.5 et45

They used to make a limited production et33 version, but the concavity is the same as et45.
Might add spacers later 5 front/10 rear.

considering nearly every set of VMR's in the classifieds in usually bent or cracked on 1+ wheel. don't know that a wheel with less durability than OEM is going to work for you.

    Just a thought..

Selection bias. People are only selling their wheels when they have a problem with them.

OP - Definitely go for 19x9.5 ET45. It's a nice solid fitment for the B8 chassis.

I can't go back far enough in my history on eBay to get the exact part # I used on my 710's but these appear to be what I purchased...

I agree with Okan. Oem wheels are pretty strong (they have to be to resist driving styles and locations of the mass public) and are superior to vmr's in that regard. I hope your not planning on running them next winter or you will be doing this all over again.

If you are running 19x8.5, definitely go ET35. It is a nice fit and no issues on my end.

I'll use my peelers that are bent. They are good to drive on. They just shimmy when going highway speeds.

Seems like at least half the wheels in the classifieds are bent/cracked, regardless of brand (seems to be a lot of damaged BBS that come across)

Exactly. It's not a valid sample to draw any conclusions from. The wheels you'll see a deviation from this trend are for OEM wheels, as people sell them when they buy aftermarket.

Furthermore, most non-damaged aftermarket sell quickly, which means you have a lot of inventory of bent/cracked wheels as well.
