I have the torque app with OBD2 Bluetooth dongle. Works ok for general gauges and stuff. But I haven't had the chance to have it read codes yet. I know that it will not read passive/ stored codes.

It only reads codes that cause the CEL to come on, but that's good enough for me. I keep my BT OBDII in my glove box and use Torque when a CEL pops up when I'm on the road. When I get home I do a VAGCOM scan to get all the codes.

There isn't much trouble shooting for this, is there anything I can do to make the cable work? I bought it to change the settings of my new bi-xenon HID's. This is the wire, I have the latest version of the VAG COM software installed. Others have had success with the cable working just fine. If there is a solution, please let me know ASAP. I've tried searching for solutions. Thanks

    This is the wire:

I got the same error message and fixed it. I bought my after market cable for $35 and it came with a disc that contained 2 dozen software versions. After a lot of messing around, I determined that the proper software version I needed was corrupt but I was able to use a Beta Version with success. But.....some modules were not accessible and some coding did not work. Like the one for remote window operation.

90% of the cable's functions worked: Service resets, running diagnostics, convenience coding, etc. If I can find the proper, updated software version for the cable, I'm pretty sure I can get 100% of the cable to work. So if anybody has it for a HEX-CAN I'll be grateful!

I'll have to agree with the thread. If you want it to work properly, we all have to buy genuine Ross Tech. The high price isn't just for a cable and some lines of code. It's for the R&D that's behind it; and whenever the Volkswagen Audi Group makes changes and launches new models and versions.

Bright side: Ross tech cable retains its value because it truly is one of a kind. While people have time to use workarounds to get their knockoffs work fully, to me it's not worth the effort. I'm actually reusing my rosstech cable as a consult II diagnostics on my VQ engine. Still working out the tweaks though

I ended up getting a genuine one, much smarter investment considering my next car will also more than likely be an Audi
