    Upgrading S5 3.0 air filter?

    Hey anyone just upgrade the filter?Not the whole system just filter. What are the options? K&N,ITG? Worth it? Heard the stock filter is very restrictive.

    The tube between the airbox and the throttle body seems to be the real restriction. Many options available there...AWE, 034 Motorsports, Eurocode etc. The factory filter is kinda cool in that it is a cone style..however, you can get a freer flowing one there as well. Again, many companies have them and most sell the filter and the tube as a kit...you will see slightly more supercharger whine and a little more throttle response and power. If you want the most whine and a complete airbox replacement, seek out Roc-Euro and their intake.

    Obviously aftermarket hose and filter is best, but just aftermarket hose like 034 with stock air filter noticeable improvement?

    Actually will this filter work/fit?

    I went on the K&N website and they say its the same filter for both
    2013 AUDI S5 3.0L V6

    2012 AUDI S5 4.2L V8

    maybe get this filter w the AWE tube or the 034

    Bump. Anyones thoughts on the afe dry over the awe oiled filter. Still cant decide. I know its small gains but im gonna get one of these

    I have the Afe dry filter in my S4...no noticeable power increase, just piece of mind knowing a better flowing filter is there. FWIW I have had aftermarket air filters (mostly K&N brand) in every car I have owned and never noticed a difference. Full intakes yes...just a filter, no.

    May get flamed for this but.... This is pretty interesting stuff. We did some testing a while back when I had a C4S porsche. The results were minimum gains at the high end of the RPM range. Not exactly usable power unless you are on the track. They do sound really good though.

    I have the AFe dry panel filter on my A5, no noticeable power gains, slight increase in intake noise if you have the windows down and radio off lol

    u dont buy intakes for performance gains, u buy it for sound

    just a filter will do nothing.

    there is nothing wrong with replacing just the stock filter though. it makes it less restrictive. its just that u probably wont feel the benefits, ull just know ur car is breathing better.

    but like i said if u want the whine noise, then get a CAI. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

    just dont b expecting a HP increase and feeling a night and day difference

    Bought a AFE pro dry filter for the S4. We will see if it sounds any different. I could hear the turbo more on my A4 with one.

    IIRC Audi will flag you with TD1 if they catch you with a full aftermarket intake, still correct?

    I don't think just replacing a filter with the aftermarket can cause a TD1, but does replacing the hose with the likes of 034 or eurocode above result with the TD1 flag?

    they have to manually flag it if you bring it in with an aftermarket filter, tube, or entire assembly.

    so it depends on dealer, depends on what kind of service they are doing (if you retained OEM everything but filter, unless they are replacing the filter, then no problems, more than likely).

    It depends on the dealer, since the flagging process isn't automated for physical modifications. Most won't care about something like the filter or intake hose, but it doesn't hurt to check with your service advisor beforehand.
