    Original 1st post below:

    Hi everyone,

I am going to document my build as best I can (WITH LOTS OF PICTURES) since I am sure there are many people that are curious how my setup is going to perform. I also will update with videos of the car once I get her running. I also plan to hit the track and see what kinds of ¼ times I can throw down.

    Mods before 034 STK:
    Stock downpipes w/gutted pre-cats
    UUC VM3 catback
    Metal diverters
    K/N filter
    Jfonz stage 2 tune
    H/R street coilovers
    Podi mechanical boost gauge
    Iforged Flux 2-piece wheels
    Everything else stock

On my previous GIAC 93 pump stage 2 tune (w/stock DPs) that I was having over boost/throttle cut issues with (due to failing egts), I put down 295wtq, 265whp on AWE’s dyno.

    Upgrade list:
    - Precision PT5858 Ball Bearing Turbo, .64AR turbine housing
    - Precision 8” x 24” x 3.5” intercooler, rated at 600hp
    - 2.5” intercooler piping
    - Tial MVR 44mm wastegate
    - Tial QR recirc valve, 10psi spring
    - 2.8L V6 exhaust manifolds – ceramic coated
    - 034 up pipe/downpipe – ceramic coated
    - Custom 3.5” 304 SS exhaust, 1 or 2 – 3.5” magnaflow mufflers (rear is removable via V-band)
    - Southbend stage 3 drag clutch kit, Fidanza LWFW
    - Custom 90mm intake/MAF assembly, OEM Hitachi MAF
    - EV14 72lb injectors
    - Bosch 044 fuel pump
    - Zeitronix wideband/5.0 Bar MAP/EGT multi-gauge and data logging setup
    - 034 Motorsport race engine mounts
    - 034 Street density transmission mounts
    - 034 billet diff carrier and street diff mounts
    - USP metal clutch slave w/braided line
    - MK3 golf coolant tank
    - Custom catch can setup
    - DM forged rods, stock pistons/heads/intake manifold/TB for now

    Onto the Pictures:

And it was my son's 4th birthday on Friday so he has his birthday hat on :)

    Success!

The motor is currently waiting for me to install rods, but that will have to wait till Tuesday after Christmas.... Plan is to have the first start by next weekend! And turns out I need two of the smaller oil pan turbo drain fittings, so Max will need to swap out my larger fitting for a smaller one. Hopefully that doesn't delay me too much....

Didn't have to remove the oil pump

Now I have to spend some time with the family. Hopefully I can get the new rods installed and the motor all back together later tonight.

Has anyone who bought these actually had a 'big' size oil adapter that fit their oilpan?

I just ordered 2 (Not from 034) and they were both the same size and both worked out of the box.

Contrary to what you believe Mike, we have had lots of people with different sizes.

To make matters even worse, we are finishing up our shop 5858 STK build, which require 2x of the large oil pan adapters. This was the first time we ever have seen two large.

People want to guess, we can guess, and we have seen equal amounts of Small/Small and Small/Large. The forum is a very small sample. The only way to tell is to remove your return lines, which is very easy and avoids you having to ship stuff back.

I guess I need to change my statement... I DID order mine from 034 Hahaha
Not only that but my invoice shows 1 large and 1 small... I don't remember ordering 2 different sizes....
I also blindly installed them on the car and I guess I got them right first time lol

    So I guess I have 1 large 1 small.

EDIT: I looked and it's the kit that I ordered, 2 x fittings. Must be 1 small 2 large by default.

Just a little FYI. The wrist pin section of the stock rods weights about 40-50 grams less than the H beam rods.

Still pushing on. Had some issues with my drill and had to go out and buy a new one. But finally got the cylinders honed.

I am gaping the rings now and then these beauties go in:

I like where this thread is going! Cant wait to see where yours spools at, also with a lot of good s4's starting to pile up in PA we might have to have a meet down there... with track time. :)
RIP Daz, you will be missed.

Looks like he weighed all the rods, and with stock heads and a stock rev limit, there shouldn't be an issue. On our newest STK project car, we dropped in rods without a balance. Keep the pistons numbered and such and you'll likely be just fine. Is balancing everything better? Of course, but once you get there, you might as well go a bit further, and suddenly you've spent $10k on a motor build instead of a couple grand on some rods and bearing refresh.

PS. Props Monty for doing everything yourself.

A rep from IE said that many customers have left the crank in a swapped rods with no ill effects.

I agree, with stock valvetrain and close to stock rod weight you should be fine...

I guess I wasn't freaking out just asking :) 33 grams is a decent amount off for sure, but if it works, it works. Seems like the weights are not that close either since the rods place their weight differently as the big end of the new rods is much lighter than the stockers (just going by the statment above about small end weights). I guess what I'm curious to is what the bob weight change would have been for a perfectly balanced stock rod motor vs the H beam rod motor. Whats the reason for numbering the pistons?

I'd be all for a setup like this in the future and I understand keeping machine work to a minimum. Guys were adding eagles(stock rings no hone) without balance work on dsm's/EVO's a lot back in the day with no apparent ill effects. Even my twin turbo z06 has budgit written all over it ;), but I need to finish that before I crack open the S4.

Good luck with the build OP and looking forward to seeing the results/power band from this setup.
