    Need opinions on wheel/tire damage

Yesterday I was behind an SUV about to turn right when the guy suddenly stopped and made me turn sooner than I wanted, and I ended up hitting the rear right on the curb, as seen below.

I plan on getting the wheel repaired by Wheel America as I've heard good things about them and I can't imagine the cost being higher than $100.

But what do you guys think about the tire? For now I plan on keeping an eye one it. There's definitely sidewall damage but it's just the very outer strip. There was a piece that was dangling and I cut it off, it was bout 1/8" thick.

The only silver lining is that it happened to the wheel that was already repaired once by the PO, the powdercoating on it isn't the same as the others so it was already my least favorite wheel.

The tire is Hankook V12 Evo (19").

    Thanks.

if it was me, I'd fix the wheel and keep the tire. Based on where the tire damage is, I don't think it will have issues maintaining a seal.

Tire seems fine. What wheels are those?

The tire is fine. That part of the tire is made thicker specifically for cases like yours.

The PO put them on and they're iForged wheels, but not sure which model. Here's a better shot:

Yeah that was my thinking too, this stuff happens all the time. I'll just have the wheel fixed as that'll bug me less than the tire. When I get back home, it'll be 3 weeks that it's been sitting there and a good check to see if the seal has been compromised, but I doubt it.

Just wanted to close this out...

I dropped off the wheel at Wheels America last Wednesday and picked it up on Friday. It's usually a 24-hr turn around but since it's a 3-piece wheel, they needed an extra day to let the silicone between the pieces cure before mounting and balance the tire.

Overall I'm very satisfied with the result (total cost was about $130).

Of course now the "problem" is that it doesn't match the others since it's so shiny!
