Secondary air injection only operates on sending extra air to the catalytic converter on cold start warm ups for like 30 seconds. That is it. You are confusing that with your evap system, or thinking they are part of the same system. They are not. The SAI only consists of the SAI bracket, SAI unit, SAI snorkel to air box, combination valve on the cylinder head, some vacuum line, rubber tubing to n112, hose, and n112 valve.
xphactor, that $2,000 quote is a joke. With brand new parts that price is fair, but you can get it used for cheaper and replace it yourself. I personally sold my pump along with combination valve with adapter for $75. Also, you can just remove it out of your system and have it coded out of your ECU. A forum member on here named k0mpresd does it for a small fee (like $50). Another thing, how do you know the dealer is not just trying to get over on you?
What DTC (diagnostic trouble code) do you have? This is what would be pulled when you scan your vehicle because you have a CEL (check engine light).
Does your SAI pump make a noise, yet still function?
What are the symptoms?
Why did you bring it to the dealership in the first place?
