New tires before the wedding - need input ASAP

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So.. I'm getting married in 2 weeks. That being said, Aaron needs new tires for his 19" summer wheels and am looking to pull the trigger on those BEFORE bank accounts are joined :)

I've kind of been leaning towards these two:
    Michelen Pilot Super Sport
    Bridgestone Potenze RE760 Sport

the Bridgestone's are substantially cheaper than the Michelen's, but am noticing that both give a LOAD INDEx of XL, but a numerical rating of 91W.

for track days I swap to r-compound 17" wheels/tires, but for regular summer driving, I rock 19" wheels with summer tires. That being said, if I show to a track day and it is pouring, I would probably just run the 19" wheel setup, so whatever tires I get need to be solid on dry AND wet roads.

Thoughts or other input on tire advice?

In a nutshell, get the Michelin Pilot Super Sports if you're looking for wet AND dry performance.

The two tires you listed are in different performance categories. The Michelin's being in the "Max Performance Summer" category and the Bridgestones in the "Ultra High Performance Summer" category. Max performance > Ultra High Performance if you're confused with the wording.

Here's the survey results from Tirerack.com (very useful for doing tire research):

    Max Performance tires:
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP
The Michelin is rated best tire in this category. Check out the wet and dry traction ratings, simply can't be beat.

    Ultra High Performance tires:
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...y.jsp?type=UHP
Bridgestone's placed fourth. You can compare those numbers to that of Michelin and see the clear winner for yourself. The extra $$ is worth it, IMO.

I have the Ventus V12's and a buddy has the PSS's the same size as me. I want to say his grip slightly better both wet and dry, but just barely! and it might be his thicker rear swaybar doing this, however I paid substantially less than he did and am VERY happy!

Also, 3rd person or this is Arron's soon to be wife?

Finally, congrats on the wedding! I am about 2 years worth of save out until I can have mine how I want it (I refuse to finance it)....

If it is the soon to be wife posting, then BIG WIN for Aaron!

You guys are cracking me up! I did indeed refer to myself in the 3rd person, my future wife is cool, but not that cool...and thankfully, doesn't check my online forum postings....yet :)

That being said, yeah, I'm thinking the Michelen's have been getting such good ratings and are on so many setups that it may be worth it. Like I said, if I need to run them at a track day in the rain, I want them to perform.

LOL, I'm considering myself lucky.... have three sets of tires (two R compound tires and one set of rain tires) in my basement that belongs to my fiancee for her track-only 944 that she races. Need to get a passenger seat in it so I can take it out for a drive on the track with her in the passenger seat as i wouldn't trust myself driving her car :)

The Michelin's are pricey and from my experience don't last all that long. As of late, I've run the Falken FK452's...on my second set now. Been happy with them on all accounts.

Well since everyone is either suggesting the Michelin's or something completely different, I guess I will be the odd ball here. I personally own the Potenza Sports and I've liked them so far. Would I buy a different brand of tire the next time? More then likely, but I'm still satisfied with how their holding up. I've ran them pretty hard a few times and other times I've just cruised along. Just my .02 for ya! Congrats on getting married, that's a pretty big step in life!

    You lucky bastard :P
hahah my 4 last girlfriends hated me for loving my car more than them :P hahah
one of them actually did left me for that reason.

But this girl im with now is actually okay, she also likes cars but she is really afraid when i race, and she does not like me spending so much money on it
cuz she wants us to save some money to go to the U.S. this Winter, its both her and my dream tho, Sweden really sux, i cant imagine how fun and how nice CA and Miami will be especially the weather :D

All that religious destruction that happened in Europe holding the culture back and destroying the advancement and society that once was, for the last 2000 years, well now all those religious wackos are here destroying advancement and an intelligent society..
On the other aspect you have people who think letting yourself get obese is a "handicap" and manufacturing is almost non existent...

So just picture a giant shopping mall, filled with characters from biggest loser and jersey shore, sprinkle on some religious wackos and there's America for you...

I can't wait to visit someplace with some semblance of culture and self respecting citizens who perpetrate respect back at you...
