No drop, because I don't want a rougher ride, scraping curbs, etc. Been there, done that.

I'm on 20s and 30 profile tires...it's not bad at all. I am on Coilovers though. However, it's the quality of your wheels you gotta worry about.

    Awesome shot, Rene!

Ride on 20's is not too much different. A 275/30 or 285/30 provides a good amount of cushion. The major ride quality changes come with suspension mods. Certainly worth the change. The 5's beg for a 20" wheel.

Recently purchased, so i'm not sure if it has spacers or not.

20x9 Forza Forged FRZ-950 Brushed aluminum w/ chrome lip
    255/30/20 Yokohoma S-drive tires
    H&R Springs

I think i'm going to go to 255/35/20 michelin pilot sport a/s plus tires for better ride and to protect the wheels. I will be daily driving her. Input/advice appreciated, i'm new to audi and cars. Always had trucks

^zomg very nice, those are almost the same as my Modulare m14s, except mine are 20x9 front 20x11 rear w/305 tire.

the only thing you need to do is take off the tint on the headlights.

you think? I kind of liked the tint, plus it protects the housings from pitting. I restored and resealed the the lenses on my 675 (street bike) and it wasn't too bad but not sure i'd want to do it with the Audi.

I finally got a closeup of the BBS CX-R rims from a raw 3MB+ picture of my 6 week-old 2013 Misano Red RS5 with the rims.... or as close as I can without taking a new picture.

    BBS CX-R - 20'' x 10, et 25 with
    Stock P-Zero Run Flats 275/30

Love those wave brakes and RS5 logo on the calipers. The wave brakes are much better than my A6's brakes. The RS5 came out first with the wave brakes and to the best of my knowledge, no other car model has it YET. Audi bought Ducati and used the motorcycle's wave brake tech on the RS5.

    Here are the pictures:

I also did a photoshoot of the car 3 weeks ago. See it here:

Can somebody explain what your all talking about when referring to stretching the tires? And what effect this has on the look, maybe even post me some examples :p

I'll have a go at it, though I'm a newbie in wheel & tire changing.

The width of the wheel for my RS5 came with 9'' stock. Or, 20'' diameter with 9'' width.

I changed it to 20'' diameter with 10'' width, so the wheel became wider. I used the same 275/30/R20 tires. Because the new wheels were wider, the tires had to stretch that extra 1 inch to fit the wheels. From what I've heard from the auto shop I used, a 1 inch stretch is no problem. The car manufacturers usually are conservative and use a smaller width wheel for stock.

When stretched, your tire is wider and covers more pavement. The braking is better because of more friction or more tire face/threads on the pavement. However, I am unsure of the manoeuvrability when stretched. Does it make it more or less manoeuvrable?

It is suppose to make it look better though, and many drivers agree. I agree as well. You can spot the difference between a 275 and a 255. I once saw a 1980s or 1990s Lambo on the road with super wide/stretched tires. They look very, very good.

Close but the tires/contact patch is not any wider in fact the contact patch can be more narrow. The only thing getting stretched is the sidewall, not the tread area. Not sure about being more manoeuvrable but I doubt it is. Pretty sure there are no positives from stretching other than achieving the look and ability to drop lower. I really enjoy the look of a light to mild stretch. Not into the squared off look anymore. One thing to consider, if you stretch a tire further than the manufacture suggest you basically void the warranty of the tire but blah blah blah, no one has to tell what size wheel they were on;)

A pic of a mild stretch...

That's nonsense I'm afraid. If the tread belt was the part that stretches then from the outside, the tire would look the same, so this theory doesn't even work with your next argument about appearance. The only thing that stretches is the sidewall, it becomes more tapered/round. The contact patch stays the same, it doesn't become wider. If anything, the contact patch is now more prone to cupping and if the tire is under-inflated by any significant amount, the center of the patch will hardly touch. So traction is either same or worse. Handling is worse, always; the sidewall needs to stretch & move as you drive. The more stretched the tire is when mounted, the less compliant it will be during cornering/braking/acceleration. All aspects of tire performance will be reduced, traction loss will happen sooner, it will be less progressive and predictable. More load, shock and vibration will be transferred to the wheel and suspension, further decreasing handling performance. TireRack is a good place to find the specs for your tire, including the range of wheel width for any given tire size. Stay within that range. Failing to do so will also void the warranty on the tire, and possibly wheels & suspension components if an accident occurs that is caused by tire failure and IF your insurance people are not idiots, they will make the connection between tire failure and the out of spec tire fitment, and even if that's not the real cause, they will love to use it to invalidate your policy.

    Edit: ya, what Mops said

That's great thanks guys, as I'm not looking to drop the car all that low it's not really something I need to do then, I kinda like the square look as well, as long as its on low profile tires.
