Odd that you're trying to turn them on...most, including myself, have disabled them. As said above, bi-xenons are halogens?

I find it strange that everybody wants them off. Personally I prefer them on. Looks nice and you know, safety first.

Who says running lights in the day time makes you any safer? Someone who can't see a car in broad day light shouldn't be driving in the first place so the fact that you may or may not be running lights on top of that makes no difference in my mind...You can't take everything you read about "safety" to heart...

Despite it being the law in Canada, A4's around here don't even have DRL's....Only our city lights and fog lights come on by default.

Fog light = DRL. It doesn't need to be a dedicated light. As to if it helps or not, who knows, but it certainly doesn't hurt anything. And sure, those people who can't see you probably shouldn't be driving, but there is jack shit we can do about that.

Puts additional strain on the battery for something that does NOT make you any safer.

The default lights that do come on are your DRL's. Older models have the fogs, where as my DRL's are 1156's /and 194 cities. You're lucky your fogs come on. I agree though, what a stupid law especially in broad daylight. I can see why it's mandated in the Nordic countries with less light however.

Extremely blinding, bright sunrises and sunsets on windy back roads... that's when it helps. Sometimes DRL's or headlights are just enough to see someone coming. My state's driver's ed class even teaches everyone to drive with their headlights on all the time.

Lol. Yeah, those two light bulbs put a ton of strain on the battery. They drop my gas mileage down to the single digits too. Give me a break, eating a large meal puts more strain on the car than two little bulbs.

I always keep mine on because everyone around my place either has only halogen's or keeps them off. I'll do whatever to set my b7 apart from the rest... But personally I like em on too, it gives the car a more focused look, idk why i think that, I just do lol...

I would of only used them if I put in an LED bulb, instead I just got fly's. So technically, I always have the drl switch on

I find this hilarious. Car enthusiasts in Canada typically wants the DRL gone, while some in the USA wants them on. Like the B5 S4..... Canadians wanted the fog lights (which we didn't have nor the xenon headlights due to frontal crash test requirements) while the USA didn't want the fog lights. LOL. You can configure the fogs to come on as DRLs via the vagcom ... I think, there could be something different between Canadian and USA cars.

Anyways the beef I have is with idiots around here driving at night with only their DRLs. Never understood why manufacturers illuminate the dash when only the DRLs are on, should only be illuminated when the headlights are on, anyways I digress....

At least on the B7 it is a vagom setting - one of the options is Canada which enables the fogs as DRLs. I think most enthusiasts in the states are like you, and would prefer them off - I just personally don't get it. Perhaps for you guys it's to be different, since everybody has them on.

Well I definitely agree with this, I'll often flash people that drive around with their DRLs on at night. While I doubt they're doing in on purpose, it just goes to show how careless some people are, and it's kinda scary. This is why my headlight switch stays on Auto, and I have the headlight indicator vag'd on in the dash. That and you know, I like to see at night

OK...Old thread I know... but I'll act like it is not.. I can't understand how I have No DRL on my 05.5 A4 with every option. I will check the manual. There is no warning bell when headlights are left on either. Reason why I want DRL's on? My son is a new driver and I want him safe...so due to NO DRL's I make him turn the lights on first setting. However, because no warning sound comes on when left on I have had to Jump his car 3 times. Now, I have fallen victim to this problem after using his A4. My 06 A6 has DRL and warning sound. ANYONE know why all these features are not working on the A4. The 05.5 A4 has more features than my 06 A6 4.2 e.g. heated rear seats, ski boot. Makes no sense these features are absent on a4
