I am using Rich's A2DP4Audi setup with a Droid Razr (1st gen). I was having an issue with the audio stuttering every couple of minutes. Rich advised a couple of troubleshooting steps and I determined today that it is something related to my phone being connected to both the MMI for phone calls and the A2DP device for streaming. If I disconnect the phone portion, streaming works fine. I did some searching and it seems to be a common problem with certain Motorola Droid phones. Other brand phones like HTC and Samsung don't seem to have the problem. I rarely ever make a phone call when driving, so it is not a big deal for me until I get a different phone at some point. I am having some other issues with this phone too, so it might be related. It is definitely not Rich's custom cable or bluetooth gateway, those both work great and were very simple to install.

I've just bought Tune2air and received it after 8 days.

It pairs flawlessly with my iphone 5 and it works with any program we throw at it.
The plus : It displays info on the MMI.
    The con : None?

It also switches flawlessly with the car bluetooth for in-car calls.

Can you test if you can do track changes?

I was working on a project that turned an old iPhone into an AirPlay receiver, but this might be more seamless.

I bought the Air2Tune and linked my phone bluetooth no problem. However, it comes up in MMI screen as "...loading" and doesn't seem to synch all the way. When iPhone is playing Pandora, it seems to be connected to the device since no sounds comes out of the phone speakers.

Anyone have this trouble in initial setup??

Make sure your itunes library is not empty, at least that was my problem. Just put one song or a podcast in your library since it goes there first by default.

Just picked up the Tune2Air on the weekend.

Works perfectly so far (MMI 3G, iPhone 4S) and I use it mostly for listening to podcasts. Used to load them on an old iPod Touch in the glovebox and, honestly, I cannot hear any difference in sound quality. Might be different for music, but I use SD for that anyway. Bonus is that my iPhone automatically downloads new podcasts and deletes the played ones so now I don't have to manually sync the Touch every couple weeks (Yay, first world problem resolved!).

Tune2Air takes about 20 to 30 seconds to handshake and start playing in the morning. If the MMI hasn't gone to sleep (i.e. shut off for a few minutes when you jump into Starbucks) it restarts instantly. All MMI controls work as if the iPhone was plugged in via the cable.

    Great product!

Not sure if it's relevant to the thread, but the primary use of MMI for me was just to charge my iPhone. I was happy that the iPhone4 to iPhone5 jump worked with only an adapter cable from Apple to move to the lightning cable, and that the audio would still play.

I'm carrying a Galaxy S4 now and I just need the car to charge it. I don't care if it plays music or not. I'll give this a try and let everyone know if it actually will play songs:

Get the tune2air unit if you want to use Bluetooth audio. If your gf wants to plug in, just use the factory mmi cable.

Hmm have to try, but pretty sure it works, make sure you have at least one song in your library. Then select iPod, that song will play, open pandora or YouTube and start playing, it will take over the sound. I know it works in my wife's q7.

The tune2air you get full function control of the iPod as if it were connected directly to the ami cable, the a2dp you just send sound to the mmi, still control from your iPod.

I have a Tune2Air question for those of you who are using it with an iPhone...

I've been using Tune2Air with my iPhone 5 in my 2013 Audi A3 (nav RNS-E) for a couple of weeks now and everything works great except ringtones. When a call comes in, the iPhone ringtone does not play through the speakers -- I get a generic ringtone. The iPhone ringtones play fine through the speakers when I'm just using Bluetooth hands-free without Tune2Air connected.

    Has anybody else experienced this?

Mysteriously, my iPhone ringtone played through the speakers today when a call came in with the Tune2Air connected. So, never mind, all is well. Great product.

I got my iPhone 5 streaming through the MMI using a $10 A2DP receiver I got on eBay, and modding my AMI cable with a $0.10 resistor. Took me about 15min to mod the cable following this thread, click on the photos to open them up. Sure, you don't get the pretty pictures and song info like you do using Tune2Air's product, but I prefer the iPhone's interface for selecting music, and for $10.10 it's far sight cheaper than the "modified" cable A2DP4AUDI hocks on their site.

So, when I get my S4 I won't have Bluetooth streaming capability unless I buy an app? Intredasting. I had that capability on my Golf R, and I have it on my Mustang.

No, I didn't read the thread.

Where is the Bluetooth streaming audio functionality?

Just got my Tune2Air. IT'S EVERYTHING I WANTED THIS CAR TO HAVE FROM THE FACTORY. Sorry to yell, but this product is perfect.

It's just like my iPhone is wired to the car. Shows on the screen as my iPhone, all my songs are displayed and controlled by the MMI on screen, it pauses my phone when the car shuts off, and resumes automatically when the car is turned back on. So happy!!

I REALLY missed this from my 2011 Mustang GT. The Ford Microsoft SYNC was very advanced, but I no longer miss it anymore. Again, very happy.

No works for android too, but nothing shows on the screen like the way I phone does. You have to control everything through the phone, but you still have Bluetooth audio.

Oh, then (from an android perspective) it is no different than the home brewed solutions above.

Good to know, I was on the verge of purchasing it...

Warning: To the home brew crowd, it's not as easy as I made it sound previously. I haven't got navigation, which means the head-unit cuts power to the accessory if it senses a 1kohm resistor on the "detection" circuit (identifying that it's simply an aux-in). To bring power to those pins again I'm going to have to bring power from a switched fuse in the driver's side box, step it down from 12 to 5VDC using a buck converter, run it across to the glove box, disassemble the AMI cable socket and solder it into pins 25/28. It's involved, but I like tinkering and it's still going to cost me less than $25.

Looks like I'll end up having to jump on that. I'm not really a fan of sync anymore. I've realized that it was much easier to get Bluetooth audio going in my R than it is my Mustang. Not to mention, it won't resume when I get back in the car without me having to use voice to get it going again m

Only if you get Navi ($3k option). For us with a 2012 or older, we have nothing. Even for those like me who have Navi in a 2012.

Just an update too, everything works well, except I get an occasional disruption which almost sounds like a CD skipping. It's at random times but doesn't affect the playback. Just sounds like my diskman needs more anti-shock timing (holy flashback Batman).

I'm a new Audi owner with a 2013 Audi A4 Premium Plus, no nav. I've tried to find a solution for bluetooth music but have only found http://a2dp4audi.netmagi.com/ - Is that my only solution since i don't have the 3G MMI? It sounds like the tune2air works really well, but would it do nothing since I don't have a navigation unit? Thanks in advance!!

Suggestion might be to upgrade the firmware on the Tune2Air device. I run the current firmware and I don't have any problems with bass response. Good luck!

First you will create an account at Viseeo.com in order to access the member only area of the site. Once that is complete, you will go here:

    http://www.viseeo.com/ugC_Down.asp

You are going to need access to a Windows based machine. Depending on the model, WMA 1000 or 2000, you'll download the instructions for upgrading the firmware as well as the file containing the firmware, as well as the device drivers and utility to allow the firmware to be loaded onto the device. The kicker will be, when you are ready to upgrade the firmware you won't be able to continue until you receive an authorization code from Viseeo support. Don't worry though, they are quick to respond, as well they should be for putting a redicu loud authorization protocol in a firmware upgrade process.

    Good luck!

Yeah, Viseeo's firmware update process is painful. I really don't understand the requirement to get a code to enable your computer to do the upgrade. I switched computers so needed to get another code.

I updated two units last night, mine and one that belongs to a Mac-only buddy.
