Pictures really help a lot. Is it also true that you have to sand/grind off some metal on the vc where the coilpack goes in? Something about the 2.0T coil couldn't go in straight away.

How high does you AWM CP sit in the valvecover? If the boots can hold the CP in place, then there's no need for me to use the hold down kit. But where can I get those boots that Seerlah used? I don't have spare CP's to play with.

Those boots were from old ignition coils I had laying around. Cut the top portion off and slid her right on. And that was all that was necessary. And the way I have it, the boots sit rather deep into the ignition cylinder. But this was my comfort level. You may be able to get away with just using the 2.0 ignition coil as is. I know a couple B6 guys who do it like that.

Would I be able to use the adaptors/spacers on the AWM vc? If not, then I'd probably use my AEB vc.

Yes, like I said in post #118: you can use the adapters on any of the 1.8T valve covers. The only exception being the euro 1.8 non-turbo cover which doesn't have the holes to bolt them down. The adapters are not as necessary on the AWM and AMB valve covers for reasons shown above.

    2. Yes, those will work for you car, although they aren't expressly necessary. The AEB and ATW "need" them. The AWM doesn't need them, but they provide more security. Most people just use the rubber boots from their old coil packs instead of buying the expensive adapters.
    3. Yessir.
    4. Your link is to the correct coil packs. The red 2.0T packs are 06E-905-115E. Cheapest place to get them genuineaudiparts.com (known around here as GAP). They should be around 16 bucks per coil plus a little to ship.
Got this. Thanks! I almost thought that these adapters are totally useless. But since I don't have old coil packs, these adaptors will be useful for me.

I run the adapters with my Red coils. I like them more-so for the "finished" look. Without them the coils stick up (the gap is visible) and look incorrectly fitted, in my opinion.

Has anyone with a BT messed around with gapping at all? Curious which is best, I don't remember what I gapped at, lol. Maybe .040.

I've been running .041 with k03@18-20psi and it's been running great. I'll probably be decreasing it to .040 once I get my BT setup finished and see how it reacts. I think I remember reading that you should go slightly lower for BT setups because of the larger volume of air but I might be wrong.

They will allow you to run a much higher plug gap as we had mentioned a few posts earlier. Other than that there is really no difference unless you were having ignition problems to begin with. They're much cheaper to replace when they die, however.

I heard it was .4 as well for the BT's. But I was blowing out my spark at 25psi with the .4. Changed it to around .33 I believe and its been good so far at 25psi

I'm surprised you were even able to run that much.

    @30psi, you'll likely need around .25

That's good to know. I will have to change them again this year. Mine might be at .30 then, I was using a cheap keychain gap tool and not my feeler gauges, and didn't bother checking what they where when I got back from the track

Just put the 2.0 coils in my AWM. Also threw in new NKG BKR6Es gaped at .04 (replacing plugs with not even 1k on them) So far running great, definitely better idle. Wasn't expecting much in power gains as I'm on the stock tune, but it seems more responsive.

I have the same gap on my BKR7E's. Unfortunately the #1 coil started misfiring. These FSI coils are OEM so no cheap China made. Less than 10K miles. Just put back the original coils.

And can't say I was getting better gas millage.

I'll be running 23psi on a 3071 so I'll probably start around .033 like you mentioned and see what happens. Not sure why I mentioned .04 in an earlier post. Seems kind of foolish now that I'm reading it for the second time haha. That's a stupid big gap.

Realistically it would be tough to get a machine shop to do it for that price.

    BUMP
just saw this over in the B5 S4 section
""redneck truck" over in the C5 forum posted that he is able to run OEM spacer plates doing the Touareg "push in" coilpacks on his V8. These spacers are like $5 each, GenuineAudiParts.com has them for less than $4 each. These could potentially be a (way) cheaper option for doing the 2.0T coil conversion on the 2.7T"
    Part number is: 077 905 390
Would these work on the 1.8 VC??
