I just thought with the support of major companies on here there would be some cut and dry answers. I called ecs as I live not to far from them and they are very clear over the phone etc. So I would suggest for anyone else that wants to do this call them first and dont get wrapped up and confused at the different ways/ tricks people on here are TRYING.
I'm sorry there wasn't a step by step guide for you to follow. However, you must understand that this an electrical modification to the car that not even a dealer would do for you. The modification is not complicated, but it is detailed. Personally when I write DIY's I try to be detailed, but sometimes you can't lay it out word for word, splice for splice. There are multiple VIN splits on the B5 chassis, and multiple different donor harnesses you can use for this that require different and specific modifications. If I were to tell you for sure "the blue wire to the pink wire", and the Passat harness you got from a junkyard has a few different colors, what am I supposed to do about that? You plug-and-go and fry your ECU, then I'm obligated to feel bad about it because I told you the step-by-step.
FWIW, I have successfully replaced the coil pack harness on an ATW with this harness (which I mentioned earlier in this thread):

It worked out great, however none of the colors matched up, so you just follow the factory wiring diagram and double check your work. Car runs fantastic on MKVI Cali coils. I did take lots of photos, so I'll be doing a writeup on this at some point.
