I know this has been mentioned in other threads via search, but I thought it would be good to pull those instructions and include it in the VAG-COM thread so that it's in the same place...

To mute the Soundaktor (as an alternative to pulling the fuse):

A9 Structure Borne Sound (in my car, this was in the second Installed tab, not the first one that's shown by default)
Adaptation 10
At Channel drop down choose "Volume of structure borne noise actuator" (only choice)
Enter a value in the proper box (0% = mute :))

I am planning on getting a couple of VAGCOM mods done, specifically the LED wink disable, remote operation of windows/sunroof, and ambient lighting. Have any of these codes changed for the 2013s?

Either I suck at searching or this doesn't exist: When I unlock the car I want the LED drl's on but NOT the fogs. How can I disable the fogs but keep the LEDs on the leaving home/coming home setting? I still want to be able to manually turn on the fogs when I need them.

I was wondering the same thing and just got my cable in the mail yesterday. I went out and looked a little more today. You need to:

[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 6 >> Bit 5, uncheck it. (It says something about the fog lights)

Now my fog lights don't come on for the coming home feature. The setting for the LEDs is a little dim for at night, so I started out with setting the LED brightness to 40, but that seemed a little too bright, so I went back in and set it to 25. I will see how that works for me and if I get flashed by other drivers at night.

so, i went in and made this last adjustment on the hidden screen, and still no Ambient lighting adjustment. It shows up on my MMI, but its greyed out and now selectable. I followed the directions in post #587. Am I missing something?

I typoed there, oops. It's greyed out in my MMI and NOT selectable. Hmmmm. Maybe i need to recode it and try again?

Did this yesterday and what difference it makes.
Note, my 13 8.5 S4 did not accept "0" as acceptable but did accept "1" as 1.2.

I do security, I set the bits, I try to save it and I get error that the WorkShop Code, Importer, and/or Equipment # isn't correct.

The 00000's don't work, the 12345 doesn't work, and I found a screen with a workshop code of "06208" that I tried and I still get error that the other 2 numbers aren't valid with 000's in them.

which version of VCDS are you using by the way? with a 13, make sure you're using the 12.10.x beta. that has the proper codings for 13s (except the workshop code). Mine defaulted to the 123/12345 in the other 2 fields, only needed to change the workshop. (see the screen shot in post 549.)

cool deal... and no, i don't think there's a known way to disable that damn beep. but if you ever find it, POST IT! we all hate it.

Not the total solution and I'm sure you do know about it but just in case someone doesn't :

You can cancel the annoying beep by pressing the button under the right stalk i.e. the DIS reset button.

Having an issue on several different cars, maybe Im missing something. Enabling remote windows with keyfob. The only thing that works is closing the windows. 3 different cars none of them the windows open remotely. What am I missing?

Im new to this forum and was hoping that somebody will be able tp help. I am trying to enable the automatic gear selection shown in dis. When I click on "single gear display" i get "ERROR: channel not available". Anyone know how to get around this?

Is there any way to set the Electronic Parking Brake to activate automatically when in park? I tried activating automatic parking brake-automatic, shift P to EPB, and automatic parking brake for selector lever position P and none of these worked.

Yes they work. Your car might already do the needle sweep(mine did when i picked it up) i have done the most common mods and they all work on my non-nav car.

i don't even understand what the needle swap even is, but yeah, the only thing that you can't do without Nav is the hidden menu stuff. At least, of the things i've tried.

Yes, in Europe they have that option. Bit from what I remember I don't think it's a digital tuner so it would useless to us in the usa. Not 100% sure about the digital thing though. You can find out more about it on the a5oc site

ok, have a question. the instrument panel's lighting is really annoying me. i don't like how it automatically dims when it senses that it's dark outside (when you have your headlights off is the only time it does this). the manual says it's to remind you that you need to turn your lights on. Problem is, it does this in the middle of the day, incosistently, maybe if it's slightly overcast, and sometimes when it's full on sunny, and i can't read the freaking speedometer, so i end up putting the lights to auto (which i don't like because then they flash on when going under an overpass). any way to get rid of that and just let you control how bright the instrument panel is?

is this setting supposed to do it? or is there another? because without the Nav, i have no access to the hidden menu so i can't do this, so i'm hoping there's another way.

This coding you are showing is for the footwell lighting.

Instead of having the switch on 0, you could just have it on "Parking light", then the instrument light will be on all the time - but then you need to turn it off again manually.

AFAIK there are no known coding for the instrument lighting on the B8 - on the older models there are.

They all need to be set to 4 individual

sorry reread and saw 2013 or b8.5

channels 63-65 should remain same as oem w/ facelift models

ie. example in recent 2014 S7

channel 63=0
channel 64=218
channel 65=0
channel 66=15

Change only channel 66 - I changed to 111 or 15+96

channel 66 coding as below

1-individual
2-comfort + individual
4-auto + individual
8-dynamic + individual
16-offroad + individual
32-efficiency + individual
64-race +individual

Individual settings are saved in mmi menu

ah, thx. I noticed nothing seemed to change until i changed channel 66. Has no one figured out how to make B8.5's default to a specific mode? Even if I enter 1 in channel 66 it won't default to Individual. Changing the values for channel 66 just seems to change what modes are displayed in MMI.

Incorrect. All settings EXCEPT "engine" setting stays in the mode last selected, however, the engine will ALWAYS start in "D mode" not "S Mode" unless a modification is made in VCDS. This is in an effort to save gas mileage :-) Thanks Audi

So not sure if anyone figured this out, but it really pissed me off because I want the transmission in "S" mode and 'dynamic' to start. I prefer to have 'individual' mode as my soft suspension setting + 'auto' engine mode, hate comfort for the steering. I frequently use the shift lever in manual mode, and if I forget to move it over, I've accidentally thrown it into N while trying to push the car (let's just say this isn't good). Anyways, just spent 5 min out there with the car and have things set as I want

63 - 3
64 - 3 (I don't understand what 218 is above)
65 - 3
66 - 15 (comment - this sets the available modes - funny to accidentally set 'race' and 'efficiency', no idea what these do)
Already forgot what the default settings are , so no going back I suppose (unless someone posts them).

Now the car starts in 'dynamic' mode, regardless of last setting, but puts the engine/trans in 'S' mode by default! I might change channel 66 to 9 since I don't see the point of 'comfort' or 'auto' modes...

I was attempting to VAG-COM some things last night and everything worked well (TPMS, key warning, changing the default ADS setting, sunroof/windows open, etc) but when I attempted to get rid of the Lights on ON warning, I couldn't find the setting.

I followed the instructions from this thread:

Disable "Lights are on" Warning
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 5
Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable "lights are on" warning when you open the door.

I went to 09 - Cent.Elect, Coding - 07 -> Long Coding Helper... and it gave me a choice of three controllers, 0, 1 and 2. Only Controller 0 had a Byte 5. The others only showed 2-3 Bytes.

So here's a screen shot of what I got:



There isn't a Bit 3 for Byte 5, at least, there's no check-box like there is for the rest of the mods I did.

I didn't know if I was actually supposed to change one of the "1"s to a "0"? What am I doing wrong? I really want that stupid warning to go away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
