Oh shit! I forgot about the Turbo button! lol

Damn it, you're bringing back memories of the day when you had to figure out just the right modem init string to get a good Doom Multiplayer dial-up connection to your bud across town.

Anyone in miami who can help me with the vagcom? I want to do some of this to my b8.5 S4 but now I know that to enter the hidden menu and make the changes I have to active something on the vcds first.... Well this is my first Audi and I don't know anything about vcds or the steps to enter and make the changes, I've been trying thread but all I find are the codes but not how to enter and actually make the changes.... If anyone can help me. That will be great. Thanks

You need a VAGCOM cable and software in order to do the adaptation changes. It's not all just MMI hidden menu stuff. If you don't have this equipment, you'll need to either buy it or find someone to lend you one.

That's why I thought they were not running at 100% at all times. Did you notice something different? Anyway, at 60% during the day its brighter than it was by default and when the headlights come on there is no change. I wonder if I did something different now than others have experienced. It's definitely brighter than factory settings though as I compared next to a factory car with just the LEDs on. The extra heat from the Xenons would definitely increase tempts but I think you're right I think its more a function of not needing the LEDs as bright with the headlights on...more visual appeal than thermal reasoning.
Hmm I'll test it out once the GF gets back in town and let you know.

Now my fog lights don't come on for the coming home feature. The setting for the LEDs is a little dim for at night, so I started out with setting the LED brightness to 40, but that seemed a little too bright, so I went back in and set it to 25. I will see how that works for me and if I get flashed by other drivers at night.
    I tried this today.
This seems to disable the fog lights completely. As in you can't even press the front fog button to get them to come off, they are just off all the time. The bit it says about the fog lights is "Front fog lights Installed" (my 2013 B8.5). It would be great to turn off the front fogs when locking/unlocking the car but still retain use of them.

It may be something different on yours then. That worked for my 2012. I could enable my low beams to come on for the coming home feature. I have read on ross tech's site that the B8.5 is a little different. The way i found it for my car is just by snooping around in the different bytes and bits. I am pretty sure on my car it said something about fog lights for the coming home. I will have to go back and look again and possibly get a screenshot for you.

I also did the coding to keep my foglights on with my high beams, but i am betting it is a different code for yours ince the other one basically disables the foglights, but here is the one for the foglights on with the high beams (from audienthusiasts site)

    Front Fog Lights stay on with High-beams***[09 – Cent. Elect.][Coding - 07] -> [Long Coding Helper] -> Byte 4 Bit 1 - Change 1 to 0

Sorry about the crappy cell picture, but here is what the screen looked like. From what you described to me from yours on mine is byte 0, bit 5 in the same section. It says front foglights installed.

yeah make sure you click on the 7th box over on line 3. I think you were on the first box (byte 0). In any case, you can do just like I did and click on each byte until you find it. I know it has to be there for the B8.5.

I can confirm I was on the wrong byte. Sorry for the confusion but I can confirm this now works on the B8.5 as well. I think this should be on the main page now. Looks so mean now when you unlock/lock the NA models.

    Many, many thanks, ob_1jr.

Glad it worked for you. I like the look with just the LEDs on my 2012 also. Looks good with the amber markers turned off too.

I've tried the following, no longer works with 2013 A4.

    - Double Disarm Beep
    - Battery Meter

Spent most of the afternoon trying to get this working with no luck.

Reading internet news stories on the MMI screen?

I know it is a safety issue if you want to read newspaper stories while driving (and I have no interest doing this), but how can a passenger do this while the car is driving? What coding is required to allow this function while driving?

Have you try this for the battery meter?

I can confirm the double disarm beep certainly does work on my 2013 s5, though the battery meter does not.

Okay that's really interesting, would you mind sharing what your VCDS settings is for the disarm beep? My original setting is 40, I then +4 even as per VCDS guide, but no dice.

I'm traveling this week so cannot until I get back home this weekend. I simply followed the first page instructions here. I will mark this and post my settings later though if you don't get it figured out by then.

Quick question- activated the remote feature as on the list, but remote will only close any open windows, will not open. I don't have the window option on the MMI screen under car options. Do I have to enable hidden MMI screen to do that? Still don't understand what the bootloader is or how I avoid it if I add the hidden menu feature. TIA.

If it's a facelift, it will be in the car menu under door lock options. The first selection under that should be long press to open

I know I may be a noob about this but I just don't understand some. I saw that website, thanks though.

Disable amber side markers - Where is this located? Is this in regards to the reflector on our headlights?
Enable Ambient Interior Lighting Control - I have no idea what this means
Enable Double Disarm Beep - Beep for what?
Enable DRL - What makes this special from normal day time running lights?
Enable Independent Fogs control with high beams - What does this mean?
Enable Rear Tail Lights on with DRLs - Couldn't this simply be done with the knob to the left of the steering wheel?

    Thanks again

In NA (US/Canada) you have the yellow side marker lights on the corner of your front lights, these lights can be disabled.

Enable Ambient Interior Lighting Control - I have no idea what this means
    http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagComINLight.html

Enable Double Disarm Beep - Beep for what?
If you have an alarm system, then you can enable a beep when the car is locked/unlocked (it is two different codings)

Enable DRL - What makes this special from normal day time running lights?
Not all car in the world has DRL enabled by default - and if not enabled, then this is the coding for it

Enable Independent Fogs control with high beams - What does this mean?
In NA (US/Canada) the fog lights are automatically switched OFF when high beams are ON - you can then code it so fogs are ON with high beams (like the rest of the world - RoW)

Enable Rear Tail Lights on with DRLs - Couldn't this simply be done with the knob to the left of the steering wheel?
Yes, it can - but the idea is that the tail lights should stay on at all time - when DRL is on, then the tail light is off (in some countries), and this isn't always a good behavior because if you e.g. are driving on a location where it is dark but not not dark enough for the head lights to go on, then you'll not have lights in the tails - and this could be a bad thing.

    Thanks again

    Thank you!

Another question, anyone know anyone near Toronto that would be able to code a bunch of these things? And are they all pretty much guaranteed to work or is it hard to make some of them work?

Some codings are dependent of the options in the car.

    e.g.
    - Enable TPMS - requires the correct ABS unit.
    - Enable Speed through MMI - only possible on models with non-MMI.
    - Enable Double Disarm Beep - requires an Audi alarm system.
    - Enable Ambient Interior Lighting Control - requires the optional lighting package (lights in the footwell and under the font seats for back).

    Just to name a few...

Hi when you say "Enable Speed through MMI - only possible on models with non-MMI" do you mean non nav? If so does the speed show up in the 'infotainment' screen

    Many thanks

How cool is that. I've sent you a pm about other VCDS mods, but I'd also like to know how you pull this one off mate if you don't mind

Driving School Mode is activated in any of the MMI menus, where you select "Setup=>Settings", and the menu item "Driving school mode" will be there - this item has on ON/OFF mode.

After it is activated (set to ON), the speed is shown in KMH or MPH in MMI after a short while - and the showing will automatically switch back, if other MMI options has been used - until "Driving school mode" is set to OFF again.

In this video you can see the "Driving School Mode" in action - it is shown from 0:48.

    Great list.

I was able to code these on my 11 S4 last night. SO MUCH BETTER at night and the front end looks way better without that dump amber corner. (I refuse to pay $2k for some lights without a amber sidemarker lol)

Went to 30 on the LEDs

    Disable amber corner lights
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 10
    Submodule 0
Bit 3 - Set to 0 to disable amber side markers (U.S. vehicles)

Disable LED 'wink' on turn signal
    [09 – Cent. Elect.] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 3
Bit 2 - LEDs remain at full brightness with parking lights (1 = active)
    Bit 7 - Turn off LED-strip DRLs with indicators (1 = active)

    Adjust LED brightness
[09 – Cent. Elect.] [Security Access - 16] (enter security code. One of the default codes is- 20113)
    [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 3
    Set between 5 and 100

    2010 s4.

Do I have to enable hidden MMI screen to do that? Still don't understand what the bootloader is or how I avoid it if I add the hidden menu feature. TIA.
You need to make your window lock is off. This happened to me as well and got really frustrated haha.

Not sure how a b8 can change steering effort, since the boost is provided by a hydraulic pump. On the b8.5 the electric assist can be changed by drive select or coding.

You can enable dynamic steering on cars that didn't come equipped with it.

There is but at the moment it gives you an error. David haven't found a solution yet.

Look at : "The final step in Long coding is make coding changs in module 44. This will enable the steering stiffnes changes."
