can i use this power steering fluid?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought a bottle of prestone power steering fluid since i was checking my fluids and mine could use a topping off. It doesnt say too much just that it is formulated to work in modern cars and works in gm, ford, chrysler, most foreign cars. Is there a certain type of power steering fluid we are supposed to use in these magical cars? I dont want the elf under my hood punishing me when i leave for canada wednesday. Im not going to put it in until i get some input.

It's the same fluid. And using generic power steering fluid guarantees your steering rack/pump to fail.

Pick up the OEM stuff at the dealer. My dealer charges less than ECS, and doesn't charge the $93.41 to ship it two states away.

Unless you go to my dealer in CT. They do skin people alive for all parts. It is just insane how much they charge. It actually costs the same to either get it from the dealer or ecs after shipping lol.

Use CHF-11S Pentosin synthetic fluid. This was used in all Audi cars from 1990 and up. You can get it at most NAPA stores if you don't want to get taken at the dealer...
