That's the coming home/leaving home button. Set to position 1 your lights will light up when you unlock and lock the car.

    Set to 0 nothing happens.

I actually installed it yesterday and its working, just 1 more thing to sort out. I wish ihad more free time and less dealing with maintence issues.

I will hopefully get it done next week, this weekend is busy

Are there any canadian b6's that DIDN'T come with this feature? Being that they all have auto lights (ie DRLs)

This feature is great when going into the garage, you don't have to turn on the garage lights.

The DRLs and the Coming Home features are totally unrelated. So yeah all MY02s, MY03s and maybe even some later MYs didn't have Coming Home.

Simply... Use Vag-Com and scan the module 9 (Central Electrics).

The part Number should be 8E0 907 279 Letter

If you have one of this:
    8E0 907 279 A, 8E0 907 279 C or 8E0 907 279 D, you have the low line module.

If you have one of this:
    8E0 907 279 B, 8E0 907 279 E or 8E0 907 279 F, you have the High line module.

However, my searches have tell me that to have all the features, you need the F one. I have bought one F module some day ago in ebay....

If that guy is right you do have the highline, just not the correct module.. How did you come to the conclusion that you don't have the highline? I don't have the boardcomputer and stuff but I still got the F module, checked under the dash. Coming home with auto dimming mirror is one of my next mods

do you or anyone else have a picture of the cable? i have the highline module as well as all the DIS features (fuel consumption, bulb out warnings, etc.) but i cannot find the hidden connector for the life of me. any idea of where this is hidden? if anyone has a picture of the connector that goes to the Coming Home switch and where the wires originally come from behind the headlight switch, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a cell phone picture of it, I will email it to you if you would like. I would post it up but I haven't figured that out yet. The picture is of a factory installed plug. The plug pig tails out of the main light switch harness about 8 to 10 inches down so you shouldn't have to look very far. Mine car did not have it. I spent 45 minutes unwrapping the harness before I gave up and decided to look at the control module plug to see if pin #24 was connected. It wasn't so I knew right then I need to make my own. I ended up making a connector from a plug that goes to a PC motherboard.

thanks a lot for the info. im going to check out the control module shortly to see if there is anything in the #24 slot. would you mind expanding a little on the connector and wire harness you made? i have a feeling that my #24 will be empty also and so far i thought my only option was to source the OEM connector and get some Audi repair pins and make it that way.

I did get some OEM repair pins from a nearby VW dealer, they were pretty inexpensive but the plug was about $11 and they had to order it. Since I already had the switch and I'm impatient - I decided to make a plug.
A coworker of mine has a 2004 A4 with the CH/LH already installed, so we pulled the switch to look at the plug. It actually uses a standard 4x2 connector then that is pushed into the Audi harness designed to fit the switch.
Basically I found a 5x2 9 pin harness used for PC mother boards to add USB ports on the front panel. It has two rows of 5 pins with wires already inserted, one pin is blank though.
I used a razor blade to cut the end two pins off to make it a 4x2, remove the wires from 4 of the positions and left the 4 that matched up with the switch. After that I wrapped with it with some electrical tape to bulk it up a bit
then placed some shrink wrap over it to hold it more secure. It fit the switch well so I proceeded to splice the wires in where they belong, bought some friction tape and wrapped it all up with the main harness.

I should note, I didn't run out and buy a USB connector, I had it in a junk drawer of old PC parts... have the highline module, this turned out to be really easy.
For those with the lowline modules this should also work to connect a factory CH/LH switch, however working out all the details for that like Bische did is awesome.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, I would love to be able to add the auto headlights now that I have the coming home as well as the auto dimming rearview that has the light sensor.

its surprising no one has retro fitted auto headlights, I've ran searches to see if there are any write ups on how to do it and no one has made one other than the write up for the C5 A6, hopefully I'll be able to pick up a used auto headlight switch soon and try it out.

I did, when I wired up the coming home feature.. but I never got a switch to try it out.. I lost on ebay.. I think it works though becuase if I turn the headlights off and stop on the parking lights selection, the headlights stay on for about 5 seconds..

I just went out with the VAG COM and found out that the part number on my module end with an ( E ) I do have factory HID's and the have the height adjustment on them when going down hills and up hills.
could I simply add to this using OEM parts to have the coming home feature with all the parking lights coming on with unlocking ? I really didnt want to go the relay route and only have the fogs come on. I would rather have the lights all the way around light up.

im sure you'll need the sensors. the switch works if you leave it on auto, the headlights will turn on when you start the car and vice versa. but this is not truely auto headlights where its light sensitive.

I just want the lights to turn on when I unlock the doors at night. Thats all. I dont care for the light sensors for it to know if its dark or not just the ability for them to turn on when I get in at night.

Yes, yours is a highline and i think you only need the switch(wiring should be there already) and vag-com to setup the coming home

I find it very weird a cab didnt come with this, theyre always loaded

Exactly, the marketing team is solely looking for how to make money off stupid things. A base C300 has this feature, heck I think the CC does too.

    Question

Here's what I haven't found out yet, (english can be bad, I'm from belgium).

If I did the simple ch/lh mod on my Audi a4 b7 (2007) with highline module.
So I connected the wires en installed a new switch for the option.

Would my fis trow a error because I don't use a lightsensor?
And if so, can that be solved? Or do you need to recode the vagcom so that doesn't happens?

As for everyone, I like the feature without any sign or errors.

Maybe a frequently asked question, but after days of research a haven't found a straight anwser.
