Very frustrated - corners of dash curling upward... Help me?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

With the excellent fit and finish of our interiors, I just don't understand what the frick is happening to the corners of my dash (top part of the black vinyl dash, on both the right and left sides at the corners where the windshield begins), but they're getting worse and worse. I had the dealer look at them a while back and they said they couldn't help me. At this point, I don't care if I have to pay for it, just no clue how to even fix, but it pisses me off every time I sit in the drivers seat, which is not a good thing. Anyone ever had this happen or at least have any suggestions? I'll see if I can get pictures, but hard to do in such tight quarters.

Picture is taken from outside the car through the window. The chunky things you see there are pieces of rubber I tried to slide in there to force the edges of the dash down, but it is futile. WTF??!!??!! :o(

Looks nasty. Mabe something was spilled there at some stage... But never heard of anything like that, start looking for a new dash panel, or if it is just vinyl film, then try to fix it with adhesive. Either way looks like you need to pull dash out. If you need instructions how to do it i think i can help

I have the same problem. Your only solution is a new dash panel.

What a drag, I could only image that happening if your ride sits in the sun a bunch.

    Good luck

My dash is doing the same thing in the middle and corners. I am going to try to glue it down. I will let you know how it turns out.

Re: Very frustrated - corners of dash curling upward... Help me?

I bought the car in March of 2008. Since then, I always garage and/or park in the shade. But, prior to me buying it, the car was in Hawaii, so the original owners may have left it in the sun a lot.

It shouldn't matter though, for a 2005 MY car that costs $50k ought to be able to withstand sun before the dash starts to do that IMHO.

Anyway, took the car to an auto interior place and they said there's nothing they can do, glue would not hold it.

Have an appointment with Audi for the area rep to look at it. Hoping they will be fair and replace it. If they don't, I'm going to blast them every channel I can think of.

My dash does that as well, although it is not as bad as yours. My car was in California for 8 years until I bought it.

I would not expect the dealership to warranty it.

    Corners of dash curling upward...update

Update, the car was seen today at Livermore Audi by the area rep. They agreed to cover 75% of the cost of dash replacement. Not sure if I'm happy or sad. I'm happy they are covering 75% but sad that the 25% that will remain of my cost will be around $550. In the end, I'll be glad to have it replaced so that I don't have to look at it every time I get in the car.

Re: Corners of dash curling upward...update

If you are willing to pay $550. I'll hook you up with one for $350 shipped. Let me know ASAP. I have very busy schedule PM me if you are interested. You could probably let the dealer know you've located one and let them cover the cost.
