Lowering my car in Montreal? Recommendations?

Do you guys think it is worth it to lower my car here in Montreal?
The roads here are ridiculous potholes everywhere
Will I completely screw up my suspension if I were to lower my car say 1.4" in the front and 1.3" in the back?

Eibach pro lowering kit & Bilstein shocks are what I would use if I did do this.
The car will only be used in the summer

what models of each should i be looking for?

I think you will be fine if you lower your car. just don't lower it to the extreme.
I say 25 to 25 1/2" from the ground to fender should give you plenty of clearance while eliminating the fender gap.

I mean lowering it to be between 25" and 25 1/2" from the ground to the top of the fender.. so like 2"(?) lower then stock non-sport?

You'll be fine. I lowered my previous car 1.5" front and 1.6 in the back on low pro tires and i never had a problem. I was using eibachs with kyb shocks

On my current car i'm slammed and no problems at all. I'm using H&R coilovers.

how much did it cost you to do it?
what exactly do I need to do it

Springs should do it but it's best to change both the shocks and springs at the same time.

droppin ur car depends on quiet a few things. are u looking for comfort, or just stiff ? also the size of ur rims and tires. these i believe make the best ingredients. in montreal, i've been driving with stock shocks and h&r springs for about 2 years and i use to have a reiger kit. very tricky with pot holes, corners and some streets where they dont care about our lowered cars. so the best thing at the end is wat u r looking for, if its comfort get some coilovers cuz eventually u'll get them(do the best work). but if u jus want a drop regardless of feel then spring it with some shocks. good luck

Umm, not exactly. You don't need to go coilovers to compete with a good spring/shock setup.
If you get adjustable shocks, you have as much control over "feel" as you do with coils, really... you just don't have height adjustment with a spring/shock combo.

Some coils are such a PITA to adjust that you're better off buying a pre-set shock and spring combo because they usually feel good out of the box.

I used to ride FK Koenigsports and they felt alright... they were too soft for the first year I owned them, and it took that long to work up the nerve and patience to rip them out to adjust the dampening.

Currently I have bilstein sport shocks and neuspeed sport springs, and I love the setup. A bit stiffer than OEM, but definitely very nice ride and improved handling.

I'm looking for a nice look but I don't want to sacrafice all the comfort the car has. I want it to stay a decent smooth ride. I was thinking about getting H&R or Billstein shocks with Eibach springs I wasn't sure if I should get the coilovers

I'm looking to drop it about 1.3 inches
My tires are 235/40/18 my rims are 18x8 ET35
the car is a 99 A6 2.8 Quattro

I don't want to drive and feel like I have no shocks I would like the drive to stay as smooth as it can with a dropped car.

Billstein shocks with Eibach springs will give you what your looking for. H&R springs are a bit more stiffer. The choice is yours.

i know somebody with bilstein hd's on a benz and it's real smooth but high
and i know somebody with bilstein sport on a audi and it' a bit stiffer them oem but much lower.

Well the shocks obviously have no effect on ride height... they do have a real impact on ride quality, though. Again, my bilstein sport/neuspeed sport combo is quite comfortable, but it is a lot lower than I thought it would be (quite a bit lower than neuspeed quotes, I think).

I install this past weekend the Bilstein sport - Eibach combo and I feel softer than the standard OE suspension, but the lowering is exactly that I looking for , not too much

Feel softer with this combo is normal??
