im wondering what the concealed display connects to. they dont really explain it all that well on the website. does it attach to a smaller sensor that you put into your window? or do you just attach it to the valentine one? (which wouldnt make too much sense, lol) thanks in advance.

Attach to the unit itself and you just keep it low so people don't snoop off of you, when they see you have a radar detector.

    Re: valentine radar detector question

the conceled display has an input that comes from the actual radar, this allowes your to move the actual radar out of your line of sight ( say on the windshield) and then you can put the dispay by your cluster or where ever you want

personally i think its pointless but what eve

If you keep it up high on your windshield it isn't noticeable unless you know its there. A friend of mine has it hardwired and put it behind his rearview mirror with the concealed display mounted on the steering column. It works out well IMO because the concealed display shows what band as well as the direction that the waves are coming from and it keeps your windshield obstruction free.

wouldnt having it behind the rearview obstruct its detection capabilities?

Kinda hard to explain but its between the rearview and the passenger side sun visor. So behind if you're sitting in the driver's seat. If anything at all it overlaps a tiny bit with the rearview's plastic. It's worked pretty damn good so far when I've been in his car, definetely better than my beltronics.

I've seen concealed display and must say that it has some perks, most of the time is useless, but in some places detectors are illegal and some people are creative at hiding them, so then some kind of external display is a must.

    Re: valentine radar detector question

i know this is going to sound real dumb but i was always wondering if it was possible to take apart the valentine, put the front-facing receiver on the back of the rear-view window (maybe just attach it to it somehow), so it's below the windshield tint band, put the rear facing receiver at the top of the rear window, and pull the headliner fabric down a little to cover the sides and back of it, and then hide the electronics somewhere, maybe in the sunroof dial/lighting console, and then just run the display somewhere up there.

that way you have the total concealed display and the receivers in the highest and best possible mounting.

i know there are concealed systems, like the k40, but i don't think they're as good or on par with the valentine, plus the receivers are placed in the front grille and the rear license plate holder i believe, which is far too low for superior reception and coverage.

let me know if this is just retarded, which i think it is, but is sort of this delusional idea that i've had floating around for a while haha

the remote kit on the escorts in my opinion are much better simply because they come with a mute button built in.. i have mine mounted next to my headlight switch making muting the radar discreet and easy
