How is that different than the stock Rs6 box? It looks virtually the same, minus the attractive carbon fiber. $4048.00 Any performance numbers?

How is the Gruppe M intake more than twice as good as the APR intake? Better airflow? Better carbon fiber? Something else better?

I guess I am a Levis type. Had not heard of Gruppe M before the OP.

But my question was serious. Or is it just the name that is better?

The name is worth at least 20 horsepower. Post some before and after dyno plots!

They only make something for the RS6. I doubt the two people on this site that have them, would care for this.

I had Gruppe M stuff on my homemade CTR. It was ok, but I didn't think it was worth the money.

Last time I checked I didn't think APR offers an intake for the RS6. There are a couple reasons why it is more expensive. One is that it's an RS6 intake and lets just say the R&D for the car is a little more than a MK5/A3 2.0t intake. It's also made out of carbon fiber and it's a relatively small market vs the 2.0T intake for the A3, fits the MK5 GTI, Jetta, and Eos. Why do you think the APR software for this is more than twice as much as any other car they offer software for?

Gruppe M offers Dynos for most of their products but doesn't seem to have one up on their site. However Keep in mind that not only does it add few ponies but it greatly reduces intake temperature which is very important for turbo charged cars.

Twice as much makes it $1000+ and adds a lot of ponies
And you trying to say that $4000 for the intake with couple ponies is normal? In my opinion this is a rip off sorry

Intakes don't really do much period for the Audi bi turbo engines as far as add power, think of this way, do intercoolers increase your cars HP? No, but they will show higher numbers than if you had factory intercoolers after a few laps because they provide cooler temperatures. However this is for the RS6 only, not the A6 2.7t which you own. If this was the price for an A6 2.7t I would agree that its a rip off, however this is not the case.

This product does not apply to the 2.7t engine.

APR doesn't carry an intake for the RS6 or anything for the 2.7T engine. They suggest performance filters for the oem air boxes.

Re: GMP Is Now Importing Gruppe M!!!!!!!

    I was referring to C5 RS6.
Have you check the prices on the c5 rs6 lately?
Two of my friends got them, both had 2.7t's before and both are mechanics, and they just laughed. For $4000 you can do more interesting things performance wise then just intake, even for RS6, i know a place here in SF that will do custom SMIC set-up by your dimensions for lil less then $2000 with warranty for any car, and we have $2000 to play with, so Chipped and bigger intercooled RS6 makes it more fun to drive then RS6 with intake for $4000, oh and which one do you think will have better cooling? :)
It really does not matter what car, it is just a carbon fiber Intake for God sake, its like having 2 c/f intakes from 2.7T....and its near that price range.
    But hey, g/l selling.
PS: I wonder how many have you sold so far?

Haven't sold any yet, we just added them to the site last week and posted up on Friday.

Intercoolers will help greatly, however they would work better in combination with this product. It will drasticly reduct intake temps by eliminating the giant plastic intake/cover that's from the factory. Yes the cars are cheaper now but it doesn't change the fact that A this kit was made several years ago when the car came out, and B there is a very small market for aftermarket parts to begin with. How many RS6's are still out there, how many are owned by people who actually mod their cars or willing to void their warranty or extended warranty of they bought it pre-owned. How many RS6 owners are actually on this forum? I bet you could probably count them on your hands.
Gruppe M could have made 50 of these intakes all at once to drive down the cost when the first one came out and they would probably be stock with half of them several years later. They are an exclusive product just like certain wheel brands.

Given what you said above doesnt the 4,000 price tag pretty much eleminate the 5 or so RS6 you propose may be on here?

    Just curious.

Re: GMP Is Now Importing Gruppe M!!!!!!!

Honestly I don't make up the pricing, Gruppe M in Japan does. The MSRP listed is at the current exchange rate, keep that in mind too. This pricing also doesn't include shipping and handling from Japan into the states, but I realize the price on some of these and for AZ members I'm not charging it.

To answer your question, would it eliminate the handful of RS6 owners on here with the price tag? well to be totally honest, That's a question you should ask them. I don't know their financial situation and how much they are will to poor into their cars. Regardless, my job is to let them know we carry it, as long as that message gets through, this post was successful even if they don't buy it because we have other things for this car other than this intake.

Re: GMP Is Now Importing Gruppe M!!!!!!!

If you could provide some real evidence that it provides more cooling/power, you could shut us up instantly. APR doesn't provide anything for said cars because the stock airbox is well designed. I'm sure you are familiar with the new APR facility. You really think they lack the means to test for these things? With the following they have, I don't think they would have any issue selling if whatever they made. I REALLY think the OEM box in the RS6 isn't just some thing they threw on. The Gmbh boys take those cars serious.

Get us some numbers, and we'll shut up. Seems simply to me. Perhaps you could email Gruppe M about said dyno?

Its physics, a proven fact that Carbon dissipates heat better than plastic. If there were no room for improvement on any of these cars we would be out of a job.

Matthew, I guess if nothing else, I'm glad to see that you guys are still keeping the RS6 in mind. Yes, that is a terribly expensive product, but then again it is the only intake available. Dahlback used to produce one, but its long since been discontinued. Now does the Gruppe intake utilize drop in filters like the original? Or something different? keep up the good work, and keep us posted on future products.

I love everyone that owns a Vag car. I would be happy to help you get your chipped when your ready if you don't have a dealer near by, but you have an A6. This will not fit your car. I wish they did offer carbon boxes for the bi-turbos especially the B5 S4 because it would go nice with those who have APR's RS4 Stage 3 kit with the RS4 carbon engine cover and all turbo charged cars can always benefit from lower intake temps :)
