Question Trannsmission Fluid Flush and Filter Install.....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I wanna flush the tranny fluid and change out the filter before I get my APR chip. I was just wondering if anyone has done this by themselves and if there is a good DIY anywhere. Also, is the filter easy to change as well? Thanx guys.

this place sells fluid and filter kits, and has an excellent write up on how to change it.

Perfect, thanx a lot I just have a feeling the dealer didn't change the fluid after they changed my torque converter, that's why I want to do it myself.

The site is selling Pentosin brand ATF, does anyone recommend something better or is that sufficient?

I can't speak from experience, but I plan on using pentosin when I change mine in the spring. Have you priced oem fluid? Its like $50 a quart. My a$$ hurts just thinking about it.

Shit, $50 a quart? I actually don't mind paying it if I know it's actually better. Is it?

Let me know how the flush goes. The Pentosin is supposed to exceed oem standards. I know I wouldn't have a problem using it, even if you change it every year, you're still saving money over the oem fluid.

Check out this DIY flush on an A8, at the bottom of the page it shows an A6's tranny fluid with only 30k miles on it, scary stuff. http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...servicing.html

I'm changing my fluid as soon as possible.

I don't think amsoil ATF is recommended for our cars and thats why you blew the seals. Just my .02

Re: Trannsmission Fluid Flush and Filter Install.....

ive started using BG full synthic atf in all 5hp19fla and 5hp24fla trannys and im my 4.2 a6, it is scary to see what comes out of these trannys even at 30k miles. i got my car with about 120k on it and one of the first things i did was change the trans fluid to the BG and after about 200 miles it started to shift smoother than before so now with maybe 5k on it and theres been no problems. Illl do another filter/fluid change in 5k and see what comes out.

Prior to chipping, you should also consider replacing/upgrading weakpoints like the throttle body boot and DV's.

Thanx for that tip. I already ordered the 007's, probably do the samco tbb next. My biggest concern is getting the tranny fluid changed though.

Yeah let me know too I have 95k and I want to do mine also. I heard it's ok if you just drain it and not flush it

When I say flush I mean just drain it and change the filter. I don't know if it's true or not, but I have heard of instinces where it is not a good idea to change the tranny fluid when you have too many miles on the clock, someone please chime in if this is true.
