    ABS Control Module Questions...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I'm getting the ABS flashing and BRAKE light on with the dinging from time to time and is happening more often now.
From what i have read and searched it is the control module.
My main question is. where is my ABS control module?
from the audiworld link i found http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec116.shtml
it says its under the hood. but my bentley manual says that it is inside on the passenger side under the dash and what not.

Also has anyone gotten yours rebuilt from the guy on here offering them for a little over a 100?

and is there any chance it is something besides the module that causes this? i don't want to waste money on something thats not the problem.

    thanks in advance

You have to run VagCom to get the codes, only then will you know exactly what the problem is.

to test it you need a vag-com. if you cannot connect to the ABS module via vag-com then it is a bad module. if you can connect, but get errors, then it could be the abs wheel sensors. the module is located under the hood near the coolant tank and looks like this..

    Re: ABS Control Module Questions...

btw, www.modulemaster.com has probably fixed more of these abs modules than anyone in the nation. Turned around in just a couple days for $160. Their website has detailed info on how to remove it, then you just mail it in and wait for it to come back. You can still drive your car while it is off as well.

I'm sending mine in a couple weeks... been faulty for over 3 years.

Ok... I thought I read that they are able to fix the main screen, but I guess it was only speculation as I had read it on another forum. Want to give them a call and ask?

That's me. I sell the rebuilds on ebay too and there's feedback there. I'm not on this forum too often, but I've rebuilt lots of them over on the other forum. $100 plus 10 shipping in the US.

Occasionally it's the sensors. I've seen one case where the module and the sensors were bad (i.e., I rebuilt the module, and the lights were still on, so I VAG'ed and there was also a loose wheel speed sensor). Pushed it back in and voila!
