    Cruise control button broken?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Yeah, title says it all. I don't think it's a problem with the cruise control because if I press the button enough (and at wierd angles) I am able to get it to kick in. I really wouldn't care but I am getting the APR chip soon and I know it relies on the SET button working.

Anyone ever have this problem? Cost to replace?

    Re: Cruise control button broken?

You sure it's the button and not a pedal issue? Does it come on consistently when you hit the button at the same weird angle?

What do you mean by pedal issue? And no, I havent been able to get it to come back on in a few days :(. Not even at a wierd angle. It seems completely non-responsive now. I think Im doing everything right. I have the slider button obviously on the ON position and I am still supplying some throttle as Im pushing SET.

There are switches on the pedals that tell the cruise control to disengage if the clutch or brake is pressed. They sometimes flake out.

    Re: Cruise control button broken?

Merv Grazinski set his Winnebago on cruise control, slid away from the wheel and went back to fix a cup of coffee.

You can guess what happened next: The rudderless, driverless Winnebago crashed.

Grazinski blamed the manufacturer for not warning against such a maneuver in the owner’s manual. He sued and won $1.75 million.

His jackpot would seem to erase any doubt that the legal system has lost its mind. Indeed, the Grazinski case has been cited often as evidence of the need to limit lawsuits and jury awards.

My cruise control never worked till I put my fuse back inn. That story ^^ is fake but makes me laugh everytime I hear it.

Mine is flaky. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The resume doesn't work at all. When I use it to accell it disengages the cruise. I brought it in when under warranty and they could not find a problem and now I am out of warranty.

Generally, if you report a problem before the warranty expires, they are still obligated to fix the problem, even if you are no longer covered.

If you get it fixed, be sure to let us know what it was, I have the same issues with my cc.

If you have the 6spd, there should be no reason to use it anyways.

I'm way out of warranty. Ended in July 2006. I just deal with it now. Can't justify getting it fixed at the moment even though I use it all the time.

    Re: Cruise control button broken?

When I disconnected my battery and needed to put the code back in for the APR chip, it didnt work. Even though I tried every way and then found the info online. My cel also came on when I used the CC more than 3 times. Then after a few days it would go away. It would work 75% of the time, but some times it didnt. I fixed it by putting in a new CC stalk.

But you said you have to hold the gas a little longer. I would see if you could clean the contacts and or connectors that are on the pedals. Just to rule out that it isnt a problem.

As for price I got it for 105 but I have some connections at home. I think its 180 from the stealership.

Also, the cruise control switch is a common problem. there is a DIY on AW to open it up and clean the contacts. I guess based on the design, they get corroded or dirty and have intermitten contact issues. good luck
