    Throttle body issue?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
If the car is idling and I go to rev it up, depressing the accelerator pretty abruptly, I get a ping just as soon as the R's rev up. There is no hesitation, just a ping. If I ease in to it or tap it normally its completly fine. Just when I tap it very quickly and with some force. I run 93 octane as I have the GIAC program.

Could the timing be off? Or could this be more of a throttle body issue?

Or do I just have an engine troll?

So many possibilities, so little time. If you could check it with a VAG tool it would certainly narrow the possibilities.

I did not anticipate a CEL from your original post. I was thinking that when you looked at each cylinder you would be able to see mis-fires. When I take mine in for service the mechanic can see mis-fires that I have never noticed.

    Re: Throttle body issue?

is there a way I can monitor the ignition system or combustion rate of each cylinder, via the vag-com; with hopes of ruling out a misfire?

honestly, I have my doubts that its missing. the car pulls very hard through all the gears and is smooth as silk when doing so and also smooth when at idle.

it's not affecting performance it's just bothering the hell out of me. I always need something to worry about with this car. otherwise, I wouldn't be a true enthusiast.

if you guys know a way to monitor the combustion rate or something similar of the sorts i'm all ears. i'm searching vag com's procedure manual now. I may even contact vag-com, their office is minutes from my house.
