    Another wrapped interior

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I got tired of my fishscale interior, and having a beige interior it seemed bland
    like this

so i decided to wrap my interior in Alcantara. Luckily i was able to find some that about perfectly matched the Ming Blue exterior. It is a little darker than it appears in the pictures. Overall I am pretty happy with how it turned out. C & C welcome

All you have to do it just take a heat gun to the glue on the back and it falls right out.

yes its molded in, as is the quattro badge on the dash. I used a dremmel and ground down the glue on the back and just popped it out of the holes.

and yes moltov i did it myself. it came out a little nicer than i thought, but it did take a while..2 or 3 of the pieces i did over because i wasn't happy with how they turned out. The alcantara i used was suprisingly forgiving to work with

what did you use to adhere the alcantara to the trim pieces? id like to see the back of one of the parts to see how far around you wrapped them - im surprised you didnt have any issues popping them back in if you have material around the back

theres actually a good amount of room behind all of the pieces but after i trimmed the extra out i left about 1cm around all of the edges. the adhesive made this pretty easy because it was extremly strong. i used 3M foam adhesive from the fabric store that said it was good for auto interiors

i was actually lucky enough to find it at Handcocks Fabric. it was on sale and i got a yard and a half for $9.

xraycer - it took just over a day. i really took my time with it though and like i said i did a couple pieces over just bc i wasnt happy with how they came out.

you really have to be careful with the suede and the adhesive because any little bit you get from your fingers on the suede will stick and leave a mark and you have to start over

That looks really good. Great work on the wrapping. One of the best wrapping jobs I've seen so far.

That is great. I was thinking about doing the same with a material I haven't picked yet, so your DIY gave me some hope. How does the ashtray look when it is opened? I don't smoke but I am pretty picky so I wouldn't want a passenger to open it up wondering what it was and see some bad edges on the other side. I do like the look of the fabric around the shifter and over the ashtray though.

i wrapped it so it looks like the suede is factory while opened. i am pretty anal about all of that and none of the edges are noticeable. i can take more pics if youre interested in doing it yourself
