    intercooler and bov ?'s

does anyone have or can get ahold of a layout of the factory intercooler piping diagram?? i'm considering a DIY front mount intercooler kit and want to kno what all i'm going to need... also, right now, in place of the factory recirc valve, i have a full bov... w/ a new front mount, is it possible to leave it alone or will the new piping and everything mean a new location or new setup for the bov??

Thats what the piping is going to look like.

As for the BOV, get a new flange and weld it up near the throttle body for the best response. It will make things easier when you make the new piping, unless you do in fact recirculate it (best thing for MAF setups). If you do, and you should, then just put a 1" pipe out of the side of your hotside pipe to keep the BOV where it sits right now

    Re: intercooler and bov ?'s

i would like to keep the option open of putting it back to recirc as it was before.. it's been on full bov for almost a year now w/out any probs but ya never know. the valve i have can be both bov or recirc. but as for the piping, those are excellent.. now, i imagine that i def have to pull the nose off the car to install everything.. there's no chance of putting it in w/ the front bumper and everything still attached?? what's my best option for the piping???
keep in mind that i am to welding like cloris leachman is to nuclear energy...

    Re: intercooler and bov ?'s

i guess maybe i should ask what is the best cost effective way to pipe the intercooler?? i thought about a kit from ebay but they are mostly universal and what do i do if i dont have enough bends of one size and i have parts left over but not ones i need?? is there anywhere where i can get pipe by the piece?? i was half tempted to go to a pretty good shop around here that deals mostly in turbo'd hondas and have them just make the pipes and install them... i guess i'm looking for the most inexpensive way to do it where it will work..

yes, you need the front bumper off to do this. If you measure correctly and can find a core that will fit, get custom piping from CXracing.com or other Ebay manufacturers and find a welder that can do aluminum. You also need a MAP flange which you can get off ebay as well

wanted to thank you guys for the pics and info.. i used some of u'r pics of the piping and the way you have the core mounted and showed them to a shop that deals mostly w/ turbo hondas since i was going to have them do the install. well that WAS the situation before they told me it would be about 200 bux for the piping and THEN 4-600 bux for the labor... F*CK that!! so i guess i'm going to figure out how to do it myself. is this normal or a decent price??? i call BS!! how friggin hard can it be to get the piping and cut and mount everything?? i mean if it only wouldve been 150-200, i'd condsider it but not like 800... screw that!!

its quite a bitch considering all the bends and welds. Unless you have a pipe cutter and all the right pipes it sucks

    Re: intercooler and bov ?'s

well i do have an exhaust cutting tool that i believe will work to cut the pipes.. and i could prob either get the pieces ready and have a friend weld them or just put the pieces together w/ rubber couplers. i'm not concerned w/ how it looks i'm more function over form.. as long as the pieces dont blow apart.. prob have them flared... one way or another.. looks like a DIY job.. i'll check the classifieds for a kit tho... ;-) thanx!!
