Is the RS6 a more reliable car than the S4?

I hear a lot about the S4 and RS4 but not so much about the RS6, why is that? What year was the RS6 over here in the states and are they a more reliable car than the S4 or RS4, usually the rule is... the bigger, the more expensive to maintain/repair and with lesser reliability.

Search...There are many threads on this, but in escense, probably the most expensive car to maintain that Audi ever built. $2500 timing belt services every 35K miles, having to pull the engine for many common failures, such as replacing an O2 sensor, brakes are north of $1000, just a matter of when the DRC goes out...on and on, and on. Great cars, but be planned to spend $7K minimum a year on maintenance.

I would say the S4 with the 4.2 is a much more reliable car

Re: Is the RS6 a more reliable car than the S4?

I have come close, about 3 times on one, and have driven a chipped one with exhaust, and that is the lasting memory that keeps me going back to it. I will be putting the S4 up for sale soon, since I rarely drive her anymore, and just be looking out for a killer deal that I could not pass up, would be the only way at this time.

Good Luck, did not mean to scare you, but like you, I should have asked the same questions about B5 S4's before I got one, having come from an A4 previously. Did not realize the costs, and got hooked on the MOD bug bad!!!, about $16K BAD!!!

I don't want to regret my decision so it's important to not go into things blindly. Based on what I've heard I will not be shopping for an RS6. Nothing against the car and what it can do, just with how much it costs to keep it doing it.

RS6 is what God would drive. God would also have the funding to maintain it though.

Re: Is the RS6 a more reliable car than the S4?

yea your looking at a never ending money management job to keep up with an rs6..when you tune it on top of that, you can just forget it...when you tune cars, you make unreliability such as tuning an s4..in the case of the rs6, you just may need god on your side for tuning problems
the mods..GIAC ECU chip, GIAC TIP chip, rear lip spoiler, mirror covers, H&R coilovers, Cold air intake, fog light grills painted to match and centers black, Debadged,19" EXE rims w/ falken tires, 2 10" polk subs in custom box, vinyled window trim, dynomat, painted calipers, custom cat back exhaust, cupra r splitter, window tint.....Full Widebody-installed ..soon to come tinted tails, maybe tinted headlights..Oh SO FRRESHHH

Re: Is the RS6 a more reliable car than the S4?

The RS6 is a twin turbo V-8. the RS4 is a naturally aspirated 4.2L V8. They are completely different. But my friend has a B6 S4 and his father has an RS6, the RS6 has been in the shop twice for turbo issues, the S4 has had no problems. Not saying the S4 is more reliable, but it does have less moving parts. Less parts means less parts to break.
