Can someone please show me what the vacuum hose looks like/where it is on the 2.7T? I have an idea, but I want to be sure.

I just got my podi gauge and I'm attempting installation

I tapped into the fuel pressure regulator line, make sure you clamp the hoses down tight because you don't want any leaks after you're done.

Is that the hose that has FCM written on it that is connected to a metal line?

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

It's been a little while, i forget exactly where they connected. It was cloth covered and ran at the backside of the engine, parallel to the battery tray. I seem to remember it was the only hose back there and it seemed obvious to me at the time... Sorry I'm not more helpful today.

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

Awesome! thanks. I called a local shop and they told me to tap into the same hose you just told me. I just came back from the road test and it seems to be working well. My car is stock... what boost levels should I be seeing? Turning the car on and at idle it reads around 12-14 hg. If I floor it it reads just under 5psi?? Is that right?

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

I never owned a 2.7t, but 5psi on a 1.8t meant limp mode or boost leak.

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

A quick search just learned me that you should be around 9-10psi. Hopefully the 2.7t boys will step in here and tell me if I'm wrong.

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

Thanks Stampy. On quick inspection it looks like the hose going between the diverter valves is scraggly. Maybe there is a hole there.

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

If you have the OEM vacuum line then you should change it all out. That stuff cracks and falls apart all the time. My 4.2 used to do the chug-a-lug at idle before I swapped it all. No it purrs like a really big kitty.

It should be considered preventive maintenance on all VAG products.

^^^ +1 I changes most of those lines as well, they seem to fall apart when you mess with them.

    Re: 2.7T Vacuum hose

Sounds like a boost leak. Should be around 20 hg at idle, about 9 psi max boost. Make sure there are no kinks in the line to the boost gauge, as that could effect your readings. Otherwise, do a pressure test. No affiliation, but awe-tuning.com has a great write-up on their site. Helped me a bunch.
