    apr or revo tuning??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, I'm stuck in a split decision between revo and apr. They seems both like good options and I have local shops that carry both.... I just don't know which to choose. I need some help deciding.

If you plan on going BT later down the road you will want REVO (my opinion) But whatever shop is closer to you should be the deciding factor if you dont plan on going bigger turbo

I been Revoed for 1.5 years now, I really like it. Without it the car is a pure turtle.

    Re: apr or revo tuning??

I had APR stage 1 for a while, then when I went big turbo I switched to REVO and just enjoy the adjustability. I can't compare them stage against stage, but if I had to do it again... I'd start with REVO

    Re: apr or revo tuning??

Here is some info on REVO stg2 logs and Martin posted his APR stg1+ logs at the bottom.
    http://audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=249098

Granted I'm so used to bigger turbos so I'm trying to not be biased in my observations. I was impressed with how the REVO car felt once we got some decent timing advance. I really did not like how the boost dropped off a cliff but I can only conclude that is how the K03 operates.

I agree Revo is more aggressive, but it depends what you are looking for out of the software. If you just want most power, go for a Revo. If you want a little more power out of the car but want to maintain reliability and longevity I would go with APR because its a more conservative tune. But it also comes down to the fact which tuner is closer.

how so, care to go into details here? just looking for the best option as well. also, does anyone have any dyno results(not from the company) they have done to show any results?

    Re: apr or revo tuning??

APR more conservative tune, lower boost spikes, less harsh on turbo etc. but less power output then the other companies. Therefore it will be easier on your turbo, motor etc.

go revo... you will want more at some point and APR isnt cheap to upgrade to the next level and they dont give you any credit for the money you have already spent.... i wished someone had told me this stuff!

however, i have 45k on my 1+ flash of hard drive miles and the car is rock solid still and ZERO problems with it. still spikes 22-23 lbs, k03 is doing thing like a minute man!

    Revo
    MTM
    GIAC or APR

My rankings based on 10+ years of chip use, and hundreds of friends in the TT world who are running software.

FWIW- I currently run an MTM on the TTQC: no CELs in 6 years of operation, and I get a good 230 fwHP out of a 180 OEM setup.

    Re: apr or revo tuning??

wasn't there a thread on here a while back that showed dyno graphs from APR, Revo and GIAC and it was proven that the APR tune was more aggressive and created a fair bit more power. If i recall correctly, the revo tune put out the least amount of power actually...

but who cares about that, only thing that matters is the butt dyno right?

well, yes, you can go from 1 to 1+ for $50-100 bucks or 1+ to k04 for $200 but if you want to get their 3+ kit, they just give you an all optioned ECU which pretty much costs them nothing instead of the $500 credit REVO gives you

Had REVO in the car since 2003. Went from stage 1, 2 and now stage 3. The car has been running without a hiccup ever since. Still also using the same old SPS3 device.
