    2006 A6 4.2

I was looking on autotrader today and found a 06 A6 4.2 quattro, It appears that this car is loaded, S-line, nav, keyless start, xenons, and they claim its car-fax certified. It has 60k miles and are asking $18.5k. I have a 05.5 A4 3.2 quattro 67k miles with nav, and judging by the market, I can probably sell the A4 for about 20k, making this an even trade (18.5k + tax). Im not looking to sell my A4, but this seems almost too good to be true. Would there be any reason not to do this trade? What should I look for if I do go on a testdrive?

You should totally get the A6. Maybe im biased. But the gas mileage isn't that bad. I drove all the way to Tampa Fl from Washington Dc and only filled up twice....and I had gas to spare when I got there. I love my 4.2

Actually, the price seem inline with what I found here in Chicago. Depreciation is a bitch.

Ya, here in the Chi S4s and A6s are taking a brutal price depreciation.

    Re: 2006 A6 4.2

I never trust a deal that seems too good to be true. I prefer paying a percentage more and having a car I know is solid. Plus it's an 06' with 60k miles, that's way too many miles.

    Re: 2006 A6 4.2

Thanks for the help, I think ill go and check it out, even though it is a huge dilema with me. With the A6, I will be getting, more room, more power, more technology, 1 year newer, and slightly less mileage (my A4 has 68k), and all at an even trade rate. The market for the A4s is still rock solid (I was checking and V6 A4 quattro with navigation seem to be going for 21-25k).

Here is the dilema though, right now I am struggling financially, so i just cant get over the fact that I am even considering upgrading my car in these tough times. In theory it should be an even trade, but who knows, I might have problems selling my A4 and have to trade it in for a huge loss... Im perfectley content with my A4 and dont have any desire to sell it, but I cant ignore that this is so much more car then the A4 at no cost to me (in theory). Oh well, enough rambling for now.

With that being said, if i do a detailed test drive, get a carfax, and take it to an audi dealership for an inspection, i should have all my bases covered right?

    Any other opinions?

    Thanks

    Tom

Bro, you hit the nail on the head with the economy. I would love to sell my A6 and get an RS4 but you know what, it can wait. I say if you even have to think about the funds, don't do it (yet) lol. Good luck with your decision though.

    Re: 2006 A6 4.2

Tom - you have good grip, sounds like it's not an economics issue -- you're (maybe) "arbitraging" a shifting market as they say, maybe even a K or two in pocket. Can't hurt to check it out, and drive it. A62T -- a little negative these days?
