    Question Straight Pipes

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Im thinking of just doing straight pipes on my car for the time being, until i can figure out what exhaust i want and until i can scrape up the cash for it.

I kinda like the stealthiness of the non-existant exhaust note, but i want more grunt and i am doing piggies in the near future and would like to free up those extra 2+ ponies.

So in an effort to stay somewhat quieter i think im only going to delete one resonator and then reassess the situation and maybe hack off the 2nd one if i feel it needs to be louder or whatever.

Basically i dont want drone, so will straight pipes drone? and if i were to cut off only one muffler should i leave the mid pipe muffler there to eliminate drone?

Thanks for the help as always

    Re: Straight Pipes

if your just going to cut one muffler out, leave the center one and cut out the rear one. i did this with my SSAC and have no drone and is somewhat loud at WOT.

    Dang that sounds good.

I started up my car with no exhaust a couple days ago. It was awesome, but I don't think I could deal with the loudness all the time...maybe most. Little video:

    Re: Straight Pipes

I know straight pipes mean no mufflers at all, but like I said I'm not sure if that would be louder than what I want, kinda like the stealth.

Sounds like if I want more agressive with no drone keep the mid pipe

    Thanks

And if that doesn't do, hack em both off.

What would I be looking at price wise for dual 2.5" from the cats??

then you think.... well 400 for the cutouts + 200 to have em installed could get me.....

1 an SSAC full turbo back exhaust.

    3. ecs 2 piece rotors
    4. used Ecodes
    5. Bilstin Shocks
    6. H&R springs
    7. a used set of rims.......

then you decide against getting cutouts...... I was in the same boat not too long ago.

Plenty of people have run test pipes without any issues.

Correct. No pre-cats, no main cats, no mufflers or resonators. Just pipe.

It is actually 2.25 at first as part of the old downpipes are used, then it is filled in with 3" test pipes merging into a single 3".

Kyle. The exhaust backfires a lot. With the new injectors/tune it didn't do it as much at cruising. But during WOT you would get the ridiculously loud backfire and a monster flame.
