Thanksgiving pics of the dropped ride.

I posted last week about how after installing the H&R springs, the rear height was jacked and was pretty much the factory sport height, no change. Went back to my mechanic yesterday and thought about what could be the issue. The rear was not riding on the bumpstops so it wasn't holding up the car higher than it should have. After finding everything to be normal, he called H&R and explained the problem and they said they would get back to us later.

While waiting for them to call back, my mechanic said he was going to loosen all the rear control arm bolts and put the car back on the ground to see if it would make a difference. Funny enough, 5 minutes after he starts loosening the bolts, H&R calls and suggests the exact same thing!

Well, he was right. Loosening them up and putting load on the suspension caused it to drop 0.75"! After tightening them back up, now the rear sits at 25" and the front 24 14/16". You can see the first pic, which was taken when the springs were installed last week and compare the second, from today, after fixing the issue. Then took some pics in downtown Boston

I guess the OEM sport suspension is like that. My car has always had more 'gap' up front. It'll get all taken care of come springtime.

Ahh. I thought you had a aftermarket suspension set up. Mine did the same with the '05 sport suspension. Rear had about a 2 finger gap and the front had a 3 finger gap.

Your car is pretty much what I want mine to look like when it is "finished" adding maybe a painted Boser hood to the mix. I think these pictures just made me make up my mind on getting a USP for my front end and painting my grills black, looks so good on a dark blue A4! Man I cant wait for spring already to get my front end, get everything painted and drop my car!

Wierd....but my ride height(H&R sport) is as follows:

    (25-1/2") FRONT (25-1/4")

    (24-3/4") BACK (25")

I wonder why my suspension is ever-so-slightly uneven? (Its not like you can visually see a difference though)

Yeah, I'm looking into spacers to push out the rear wheels just slightly so it's more flush.

Yup, winter mode now. I have the H&R springs on Koni Sport shocks. Great combination. The ride is firm but not break your back firm. Still is quite comfortable on long drives and absorbing the bumps, etc but handles like its on rails. BIG difference from factory sport suspension.

could you perhaps take a picture of the front wheel gap....?

Thanks, but I feel my front is sitting to high....I did NOT load the suspension when tightening up the front bushings and whatnot. I am hoping that is the reason why my front sits like 1/4" higher....

    thanks

    bump for some pics.

I loosened all my control arms hoping that it would bring the front down a little.....nope

I am guessing your fender to ground measurements are slightly smaller because of the 17" wheels/tires....
