    these brakes...... problem..

the "BRAKE" on my dash was blinking and beeping. so i took the advice from members of this board and add some more brake fluid. It fixed the problem. I planon changing in brake pads but after taking off the tire and checking the pad which is in mid life stage. i decided not to change it.. but added more brake fluid (i had my E brake on).. After that, the pads feels as if it's rubbing on the disc. i try going over 60 and it feels as if the pads are stuck.. also, when ever i hit the brake i can hear a "tap" sound, i think it's coming from the brake pads..

could it be that i add too much brake fluid? how can i fix this??

$500 for a new module or $200 to send yours to modulemasters for a rebuild of your current one

to test you'll need a vag-com, try to connect to the ABS module, if you can't connect then that is your culprit. very common problem

your brake start doing this same thing as mine??? all i did was add brake fluid but my friend was shaking the reverser to see the fluid level.. arrr. he told me when he was working for audi, that's how they check it. anyway, can you give me some details as to what your C5 is doing??

    as for me,
i would drive around and when pass like 30mph and let go of the gas, you can feel the car shaking, brake pads rubbing against the disc. when going slow (on D but not hitting the gas pedal, you can hear the pad scraping the disc. and when you hit the brake pad, you can hear this tap sound as if the pads are being pushed. as Xmas is coming up. i just hate to not have cash to buy something for myself...

anyways if this is what you're experiencing let me know and we can share ideas..

also. i'll see if i can get it VAG again...

you shure its your pads? and not the shield? if it bends a lil it can rub against the rotors.

good point D, i'll check on that.. but when i was trying to put the wheel back on, the rotor wasn't align correctly for the screw and had to use a screw driver to turn it... maybe that moved the shield...

o.k.. just as indicated. it's a stupid mistake on my part.... the problem was.. when i try to bolt the wheel back on. the rotor moved and i have to shift it back in line.. well.. i guess it moved again when i was bolting it on.. the wheel was basically coming off... that's what cost the whole problem...
