I think this is cool. I might wanna do this.......I have my flame suit on! Lets begin!

Ok so I know people hate stupid exhaust flame trowing kits (like Fast and the Furious even tho the Hot Rod groups started it way back in the 50's). I dont want the stupid full flame stuff. All i want is a 1-2in Blue flame. The Ferrari F430 Does in race mode under full accell. Thats what i want.

Here are some videos. I want exactly what you see. Nothing more!

    1. Miami Vice Ferrari

    2. Ferrari F430

    3. Yellow Gallardo

Any help on how to do this without getting a stupid kit. Also there are 4 or 5 diffrent ways of doing this when i search on google. But i dont want anything crazy. All i want is a little flame.

And dont tell me to get bigger turbo with no cats and regs.

    Thanks

Thats what I thought too. But it does it under full throttle. All of the f430's do it in race. There are a bunch more on youtube. The ones in the Gumball rally do it also. So im sure its a factory thing.

Is it possible it has something to do with the rev limiter? because i know some guys with 240s and skylines use a "Bee* Rev Limiter"....supposedly it cuts spark instead of fuel to limit the engine and causes that flame. Warning:JDM content

i'm sure it's a flamethrower kit that is in the 430, it's just so constant. and by that i mean a factory installed one.

that or the f430 has a bypass valve much like the s4 or 3000gt VR-4's where the exhaust switches to a more "straight through" passage.. on the above mentioned though it only changes sound...

i know a guy with a 360 modena with a full race exhaust - i'll ask him if we can do some runs at night and i'll see if that thing does it. if so it'll be slightly safer to assume that it's got something to do with the exhaust... if not it'll be slightly safer to assume that it's a factory installed option though i doubt ferrari would do something like that to one of their absolute favorite cars.

I just saw a YouTube video last night of an A4 that threw out flames on the highway. Weird.

The only problem is that's only when it cuts out. The Ferrari one is constant flame under full load. The flame does not cut out.

I want the Ferrari set up.

Ya that's what I'm thinking. Its perfect and the same length every time. Also its constant with no random cuts in it.

I have no idea how you would get just a small blue flame and under acceleration but I think that would look pretty sweet

good point, mid-engine cars have a much shorter exhaust path. not to mention more then twice the cylinders of a 1.8t. which should equate out to a smoother more constant flame.

i think that the constint flame is gay it only looks cool on the 430 becuase well its a 430. Now you put a flame like that coming out of your exhaust i beat you it will not be so cool. however i would support the flame coming out during each shift. becuase tha usually means you have some balls under the hood. but if you like that consint flame than try it i could be wrong.

i've seen rx-7's put a bypass that allows them to dump fuel straight into the exhuast, which causes unburnt fuel to ignite at the end of the exhaust (with a spark if necessary).

Personally, i think it's much cooler to spit fire when you shift after WOT. Although it was a spit of fire, i was able to do it with my turboback exhaust on my GTRS. A constant flame can damage your rear bumper or worse, the whole car.

According to those who have done runs against me, claim I have a constant blue hue from my tips. I know for a fact it rips obnoxiously loud and large flames at WOT. But I can only go by word of mouth on the blue hue. I am actually waiting on an HD video that supposedly shows this epic event. But neverless, the video posted above describes it..

I run a complete straight pipe setup. No cats, no mufflers, no resonators, just pipe. It was also on a very very very aggressive stage 3 setup with larger injectors.

Simple u will first hear a suction noise from the exhaust then a bit of a pop from the exhaust u know when u rev to redline the car kinda feels like it's shooting a coconut through the exhaust it'll feel something like that.

My car is chipped with a test pipe and 2.5" exhaust. It pops, burbles, and backfires but i can't tell if fire comes out at any point during this.

It mostly just makes those kinds of noises during downshifts when slowing down, is it even possible to shoot fire during a downshift?

Audi's are not meant to star in The Fast and The Furious. They are entry-level luxury german cars that yearn to retain some of their dignity. Now if you want to slap a big turbo or a tasteful body kit on it, that's totally fine... but shooting flames out of the exhaust to imitate the power of a Ferrari F430 is just a joke.

    To the OP

In the Miami Vice video clip I bet the flames are digitally edited.

For the track video clip, that F430 is probably using a track exhaust with no cats. In which case, almost any mid engine supercar will shoot flames.

And as far as I know, setting the Ferrari Magnetto to RACE mode, does nothing to enrich the fuel mixture.

    HOWEVER:
I have no data which supports why the flames are constant especially under acceleration. Usually a pop/backfire occurs when going from WOT to closed throttle.

In conclusion, Ferrari is the god of all automobiles.

OK when u play with the Control setting in the Ferrari the minute you move it one or 2 over the regular driving setting the suspension firms up, the F1 gear box gets quicker (shift wise) and the engine gets more ferocious and the exhaust valves open (i think it by passes the muffler).

Also its not just those 2. All F430's do it. Like i said. All the ones in any of the gumball rallies, The track one, the Miami Vice one and 3 others on youtube do it.
And no the one in Miami Vice is not digital flames. They are real. As there were discussing this in a film forum and someone new the guy that worked on the movie.
