K04 Turbo

Does a K04 turbo fit rite on the a b6 audi a4 1.8t... or what all mods do you have to make?.

It bolts on with no problems just like the k03... but you'll need injectors, exhaust, software, intercooler....

you will need supporting mods and have your ECU reprogrammed with software for the K04.
not worth it for the tiny gain you get. don't waste your time or money, i'm speaking from first hand experience.

don't even look at a K04, go with a GTRS if you want more more then a straight chip and injectors.

i love my K04 almost as much as i would love more power
it does give a nice consistent pull from 3000-5500 rpm and im still on stock clutch

i've been K04, wasn't impressed with it. it was fun for a few days....

with stage 3 i get HARD pull from 3200 to 7000 and that is only running 14psi due to a boost leak.
you have to figure that by the time your said and done with a K04 setup your in the $2500ish range (some have figure it to be higher then that), for about $3500 you could have a GTRS setup that is fast as hell. sucks having a K04 installed and you get all excited only to find out it's really not much better then a K03, just a little more tq so you get a small kick in the seat for a ton of money when you could have had a nice setup for a little more.

Again, K04 just isn't worth the money, save a little longer if you don't have enough for the next step up and you will be very very thankful you did.

Toast: how you like that Thermal R&D exhaust? i don't use the radio anymore and drive everywhere with my windows down so i can listen to it :)

i got mine right here in the classifieds on audizine. was brand new but dropped so i needed to replace the actuator because it had a dent in it, the old one woudl have worked i'm sure but i didn't want to change it for $80. $900 shipped for the turbo (and associated hardware you get when you buy it), $80 for the new actuator.

thermal exhaust is awesome - i would highly recommend it
the rumble puts my kid to sleep almost every time

widgget did you have to upgrade your tranny with gtrs? i was wondering because i have a tiptronic to and i cant find anything on websites about upgrading my tranny for a bigger turbo setup

nope, not yet, plan on it but not now, it's not necessary with a TIP, i just want the faster shifting from the valve body upgrade.

there are a few shops that i have heard to a good job..... 517 in NJ (prob wrong on the name) was the one i think i'm going to end up going with. there are a few threads where it was brought up. mavrick i think was the one that recommended them.

The GTRS is allot less harsh on the tiptronic then allot of the smaller turbos since since the GTRS doesn't have a tq spike as sharp as say a K04. It's very smooth even though it's throwing you back.

how long have you had your kit with the stock tranny? and do you get on it alot or just cruise

oh, i beat the hell out of it pretty decently.
normal driving i take it to 4.5kish, hard 6-7k pulls a few times a week easy.

had it for about 7 months now. there are allot of other guys on here too with stage 3 tiptronic setups that have gone 2+ years without tranny issues. i'm deff not the first with a stage 3 on a tiptronic, we are even starting our own club here on AZ from what i hear.
