    Re: euroswitch?

adding on to Kerschera4, if you don't have an 02, you will have to use vag-com(software) to recode your ecu combined with a slight modification to your switch to have independant fogs. do a search for independant fogs and you will find tons of threads asking about this. you can shoot me a PM if you'd like as well.

    Re: euroswitch?

^^Not entirely correct. If you have the 2002, then you can use VAG-COM to set the code for the fog lights to come on with the parking lights. For 2003+, you have to rewire the connections to make it work.

I've had an '02, and the VAG-COM coding did the trick. For my '04, I would need to not only do the same coding, but also do some rewiring to get the same results.

    Re: euroswitch?

idk if anyone has done this. But i ran power to the fogs indenpently along with a relay and hooked up my own switch. That way I could run with just the fogs. If I have my headlights on and want to turn the foglights, I just use the light switch.

    Re: euroswitch?

Sweet, i have the easy way!!! Yea, mine you pull out one click for fogs, and another click for rear fog. My friend Vag'ed my fogs to Canada so they come on with just the parking lights.

    Re: euroswitch?

all the Vagcom and oem switch wiring tricks result in your fogs always being on anytime your parking lights or headlights are on. IMO, that's not 'independent fogs'.

If I'm incorrect, and someone has wired the OEM switch so you can turn the fogs on or off regardless of parking or headlights, please correct me and tell me how.

    Re: euroswitch?

you cant pull out to the click while the parking lights are off... so it would probably be a major ordeal to try and make that work.

    Re: euroswitch?

How much work is it to re-wire since I have an 04 and cant just vag the code into my ecu. So when I pull out the light switch the first notch with the parking lights on...the fogs will come on as well.

Anyone to a write-up on the re-wire for later models newer then the 02s? I searched but threads didn't show this...just that you needed VAGCOM.

    -Thanks.

aren't our cars supposed to have DRL's? Cause in my 2003, in order to have my lights on i have to turn the switch. There's no DRL's. Does this mean that the person who had my car before me VAG'd the feature to off?

Nope, no DRL's. Although the Canadian setting uses the fogs/parking lights as DRL's.

DownhillA4 -You can't just rewire the switch to make the fogs work like that. It's a combination of both Vag-com and re-wiring.

Yeah, found that out just after I posted that I will need to re-wire my foglights. Thanks though.
