    DV relocation question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I picked up a forge DV and I am considering relocatng it when I install it but I am unclear on one thing. I understand the DV installs in the TBB with the T fitting. But the hose coming off of the dv in some write ups goes to the air box, and others the TIP. Shouldn't it be the airbox? Any help is appreciated. I'm not positive I will be doing this but if I do I'd like to do it right....

Into the TIP after the MAF. That is what the ecu is programmed for.

    Re: DV relocation question

Going into the air box would be exactly the same thing as running a BOV.

Wouldn't it be the opposite? Since metered air would be flowing back through the MAF?

As for the relocation part get a 1" ID hose and install it where the stock DV flows back to the TIP. It's a pain in the ass to get to however.

The air being bypassed or "blown off" has already been through the MAF. You don't want it going through again, let alone at the higher temp than it was before it was pressurized.

I relocated my DV down to the boost hose right off the turbo, instead of having the recirc line come up to the DV in the TIP, I have a "non pressurized" recirc coming off the DV to the TIP.

I'll try to explain b/c I don't have any pics, and it's not worth posting online b/c it looks shady, but works amazing.

Pre-Facelift cars have the DV mounted directly in the TIP. The DV is fed by a foot long donkey-dik looking hose(pressurized)

Facelift/DBW cars have the DV mounted in the boost pipe right off the turbo, before the steel cross pipe under the radiator. The hose that recirc's the air isn't pressurized.

I basically changed mine from the OEM pre-facelift design to the Facelift design.
This was motivated by my A/C belt eating the donkey-dik looking hose, thus creating a boost leak from hell. I simplified the system and seemingly increased boost recovery during shifts.

    Re: DV relocation question

This is the "write-up" I found. Everything looks correct here? I priced this out today with parts I can get from work (Autozone) and I can do it for like $40 if I decide to.

You sure about that? My 98's stock DV location was in the front cross pipe.

Did you buy your car used? Could have been changed or it could just be the 97 and early 98 that came with the BPV up top.

I'll have to pay more attention to customer cars then. I could've sworn it was a prefacelift/facelift split.
