...you have this stuff! It's a vinyl automotive grade tape used just for these types of things, bought from ebay member xxhellmuthxx. Same stuff that guy used to change his beemer all white using large pieces of this stuff. It is super stretchy that makes it a snap to apply around corners without any bubbles or creases. I was surprised by how much I could stretch the stuff without it breaking. We'll see how it holds up. Planning to do the grille with it too, and maybe the roof rails if I have enough left over. Best thing about it is if you screw up, just remove it and start over with a fresh piece. Or, if you dont like the look any more it comes right off with a little bit of heat or adhesive remover. Its one of those DIY projects that starts off tedious but once you get the hang of it, it goes quick and easy.

They use this stuff on many german taxis, the taxi driver will buy the car in black or grey for the best resale value and then get a cream (taxi color there) colored version of that film covering the entire car, and then after many miles and dings they just peel it off and they have a perfect dark colored car to sell. A really smart idea actually.

chrome trim looks good with chrome wheels, black trim looks good with black wheels. I wonder how that tape would look on the roof, I have a strip about 3 feet long and a foot wide, I wonder how the tape would look overlapped on the roof, anyone with pics?

Exactly how I feel. I've got the black R8 wheels. Trying to keep with the black/grey theme. Black interior, black trim, black wheels. Hopefully it looks good.

Here are more pics. Sun was about down, so i had to turn the flash off and the pics didnt turn out too good. I'll get good ones tomorrow during the day. Install turned out good. Hard to tell if you didnt know what to look for. I didnt have enough to do the grille, so i'm ordering more to tackle that next.

^Not sure how it'd hold up. The hard part would be getting it around the actual rim part without creases. The spokes would obviously be easy, but corners and curves are tricky.

yeah thats what i was thinking, I always could just do the spokes though and see how that turns out. (probably ugly)

I am amazed that people put this over their entire car's finish. Interesting idea to change a car's color temporarily. The trim looks good . . . see how it holds up.

My brother and I used Plasti-Dip for his window-trim on his '04 Passat. Came out great. That was one of my fav. DIY projects. Yours looks good too!

The beltline trim needs to be more of a gloss black
