    another stupid question...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so after installing my forge 004 there seems to be a much louder hissing air sound when i accelerate hard in any gear. i thought the BOV was just supposed to make a swish sound when it lets the air out? (and yes i know it's bad to run a blow off valve, i just thought i'd try it for a bit and get a DV when i get sick of it.)

    Re: another stupid question...

hiss when your acelerating is most likley a boost leak.
second thing it could be is your BOV might not be closing and it's letting boost out,
#3 could be the turbo itself on it's way out very soon.

or you might have the BOV on backwards.

    Re: another stupid question...

how would i have the BOV on backwards?
and i cleaned and greased it before install so i don't think it would be sticking open.
i had a feeling it could be a boost leak, but the sound is not there when i rev the engine in neutral and only becomes audible in 2nd-5th gear, and i don't really feel a loss in performance...
is there any way a code will be generated from a boost leak?

you could get a CEL from a boost leak but not always, do a boost check.

You're not building any boost in neutral... Do you have a boost gauge?

one thing you could do is the evap/sai removal. If you have a leak you're bound to find it in one of the many hoses you'd be removing.

    Re: another stupid question...

just get a boost guage. its like 30-60 bucks for a nice one and can be installed in 10 minutes, even the first time. podi has a kit with a mounting pod or if your broke like me just rest it in the door storage thing, thats what i did for a while, just take it out before up swing the door open.
