how fast?

Ok so I'm trying to decide between a B5 S4 and a B6 A4. I want a car thats at or below 6 seconds 0 to 60. If I get a 2004 AWD A4 1.8T and put the stage 1+ chip (so with the fuel injectors), and a exhaust system in it, will I be close? I know the stage 1+ puts the car at 229 hp and 271 torque. Then I've heard different ratings with the Exhaust so I don't know where that would put it. So what do you guys think?

stage 1+ isn't going to get you 0-60 in s seconds.

I was in the exact same boat, i was out looking for a B5 S4, but found out that the A4 with a 1.8t can be MUCH faster, plus i can work on without having to pull the engine just to get to the turbo like the S4 (i can't even imagine doing that since i do all the work myself). the B6 was a newer car with less miles, cost the same the older S4 and had much more room for mods.

Long story short, i started off set on a B5 S4, ended up with a Stage 3 B6 A4, and have never second guessed my choice.

i think you'll still be in the 7s at least. I'm 1+ with intake and TIP. Exhaust will help, but not enough.

I THINK 1+ is about 6.5 - 7 seconds for 0-60.. which is better than the 12 seconds stock haha. If you want something that can be balls fast, get the s4. Keep in mind that you'll have to do a lot more maint. Also they are costly when (not if) they break.

I don't know if I could have a car thats the came as his truck. haha i don't know though. I'm a noob so what do i know

I think you're delusional, unless you meant stock B5 S4...

OP, do your research on these. B5 S4 and B6 1.8T are vastly different and shouldn't be compared IMO.

If you plan on keeping it mostly stock just go with the B6 s4. It will be worth spending the extra money to upgrade from the B6 A4.

Get the B6 if your willing to turn some wrenchs. If not, your better of getting the B5 S4 chip it and call it a day.

honestly, it sounds like you need to do a lot more research. the qucik answer is B5 S4. It runs 0-60 in 6 sec stock, and for less than $1000 in mods can be made significantly faster. However, it is one of the most unreliable and expensive cars to maintain. So its cheap to make fast, but expensive to own period. the B6 A4 is much slower, needs thousands of dollars in mods to be that fast, but atleast its much more reliable.

either way...fast audi's aren't cheap.

I was in the same boat as you not too long ago. I went with an 05 A4 1.8 with the six speed and I think I got the best of both worlds. I recently did the GIAC stage one kit and while its no where close to as fast as an S4, its more reliable, has less miles, and mine came with the remaining factory warranty. And its still fun. You won't get 6 secs without a good deal of work, but imo its still the better choice. That is, unless you can afford the B6 S4.

if u dont care bout gas mileage get a b6 s4....super super dependable engine..maitenence is very little and its quick... b5 s4 is gonna be th biggest head ache of ur life..hard to work on and not dependable

i like the b5s4 because of the motor alone but apparently the problems people have with parts kicking shit are costly.

I have had a B5 A4 1.8t, a B5 S4 stg 2+, and now a bone stock B6 A4 1.8t.


If your looking for speed, go with the S4. Granted you can always go stg 3 on your B6....it really depends what your looking for in a car. The S4 is nice but the interior looks dated, and since its an older car....be ready for maintenance.

Stock vs stock, of course the S4 is hands down faster, but if you do it right you can have a A4 that will blow the doors off a S4, and not cost half as much when you need to replace something.
I am having boost problems with my Stage 3 setup and i'm still very impressed with how fast it is, i can't imagine what it's gonna be like once i have it all working correctly.

Anyways get a B5 S4 and chip it, and u'll be much faster than 6 seconds to 60, a chip and exhaust shoul do the trick for your goal, u'll need to invest around 5k for a BT with all supporting mods if u get them for a good deal to get where u wanna be, no 1+ car will pull sub 6 sec to 60, k04 fully built maybe, but a GTRS is ur best choice. If u got a chipped B5 S4 u'd already have 320-330HP more than enough and sub 6 sec. for sure.

you can forget that idea...the b5 s4 is like a prostitute..give it some money and you can ride, but only for so long until you need to give it money again...i came from an s4 (well a6 2.7t) same thing...and im much much happier in my b6...
